On one of our first steps to promote international tourism and The City of Lake Worth, Vice Mayor Suzanne Mulvehill is in England where South-End is having its first street painting festival. She will be a judge.
The Vice Mayor has worked diligently since she was first elected to office to get Lake Worth on the map. By the time our beach is redeveloped, our marketing task force along with this commission, will have our city poised and ready for international tourism as well as our Centennial.

Go Suzanne. You're the best.
still waiting to hear what hotel the winner will be staying at??>?
The 1st Prize for the best work produced by an artist ages 18+ is:
Airfare and 3-Night accommodation at the luxury Omphoy Ocean Resort
West Palm Beach - Sponsored by the Palm Beach County Convention & Visitor Bureau.
Not exactly Lake Worth. Nice branding. Not West Palm either. How about Palm Beach.Don't believe everything you are told.
Good for Suzanne! Lake Worth is getting some great P/R. I just read a really good article about Lake Worth's music scene in Boca magazine. Also heard thru the grapevine that some high end galleries are going to open on Lake Ave.
great high end galleries that the majority of the people in Lake Worth cannot afford. YEAH!!!!! Never mind that how long before the Chicken Vendors start at the Green Market??
You either want Lake Worth to be an attraction to people with money or you don't. Which is it? Ask the CRA (a board that you defend) which is making this an artist's destination. With that, comes galleries. You keep complaining and when something positive happens, you complain again. Go sulk in the corner.
It may not be Lake Worth but so what? We got the publicity and that's what a good marketer is all about.
What do you mean so what? This adventure was so that we could lure torist to Lake Worth. If there are not decent hotels to stay in and keep them here to play than the cities who can accomodate them will benefit from their dollars. Just because we have a beach does not mean they will stay here, many cities have beaches with more ammenities. Not to mention the museums and historical attactions. First we need to secure decent hotels to acommodate, then say here we are come STAY and play in Lake Worth. That would be good marketing and branding. May be we are putting the cart before the horse and Mulvehil gets a nice vacation. I like to hear rumors from the grapevine but the grapeine is just what it is rumors. When they move in then we promote, we don't say hey come too Lake Worth we might have high end gallerie coming here.
Well, that's good--you are not on our marketing task force.
Mulvehill is in England on her OWN dime. This is not a vacation and even if it were, so? She is there promoting Lake Worth. So start whining and complaining about truly corrupt people and ensure, with your vote, that we do not elect one.
I personaly don't care if Mulvehil is on vacation and it's great that see can mention Lake Worth name. But there is much more to branding and Marketing than name recognition.I did not see you at any of the Marketing task force meetings what few there were. However I did attend. Why you feel it neceessary to be nasty to your posters I don't get. Everything is not a fight or argument. I was just pointing out what is dicussed by many business owners and citizens. Come and talk to the business community and fine out what is on peoples minds. If the task force wanted to find out they could have sought public input.
Well, since you seem to want to get credibility here, comment under your own name. Otherwise, you want to come over here with your rude comments and your know it all attitude, then you take your chances. With you, it ends up being an argument because you want to have it that way. My blog...last word.
I don't get what you mean by being rude that is not my intention. It's very hard to get a message across when posting like this. It's hard to decipher good intentions from bad. I don't pretend to know it all, however I do have ideals, however they might not speak to everyones' point of view but that should not stop me from offering them. I would leave my name and have in the past however it opens me up personally to whatever your blogging guest might want to say. It is as you are aware it's not always good. So keep an open mind and if you disagree it's o.k. but don't try to make us feel bad for even engaging in the conversation. If you want to personaly talk to me let me know and I will arrange it.
I guess I would have to ask her but why didn't Commissioner Mulvehill offer up one of our fine Bed&Breakfast we have in Lake Worth for the contest in England. What better way to promote than thru the charm and quaintness that we already have.As well as supporting local business.
I would rather guess that if the choice was up to her she would have done that. Instead it was the Palm Beach County Convention & Visitor Bureau that sponsored this.
Why are some people so mean towards Suzanne? She is the nicest of people and we are very lucky to have her as our commissioner.
Then I quess my next question is why is the Palm Beach County Convention & Visitor Bureau making desisions for the City of Lake Worth without the input of the commission. Many people conplain about outside forces controling our city then we let the oppurtunity to make something good happen IN our city slip away.
Well, I would suppose it is because Tourism is Palm Beach County's number one industry, generating over $2.6 billion dollars annually in our area's economy. The Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau is charged with the promotion and marketing of the tourism industry in the State of Florida and it has the resources, we don't.
Why is it that YOU have to complain and find fault even in good things?
I think this is a wonderful thing why do you think that I don't and I am certainly not complaining about it . I was just asking the question of why couldn't we ask the Bureau to please offer up a place in Lake Worth, did they think that we did not have a suitable lodging stock. If so why didn't the commission offer up the great places that are here(Sable Palm, Mango Inn,Etc)after all it is a Lake Worth venture. Maybe the commission could stand up for our city and push just alittle harder. We do have the resources to ask the questions and make things happen.
I am not sure that LW has that sort of influence on this Bureau. But the positive is that now people from that area will be reading about it and saying--"Let's take our holiday to Lake Wroth, Florida this year." When they Google places to stay in LW, they will find these wonderful B&B's such as Sable Palm. It should benefit us in ways we can't realize yet.
Maybe that is so Lynn let's hope so. I just feel that putting the winner outside of Lake Worth might keep them outside of our city. Since they will be in great hotel with great ammenities and on the beach. I just have the feeling that somehow maybe the Omphoy has some arrangement with the Bureau be it financial or otherwise.I will get off this issue now thanks for listening.
