"The successful firm will demonstrate a clear understanding of the cultural and historical importance of the site as well as an understanding of the importance of the site to Lake Worth Residents. The selected team will develop an innovative design that captures the renewed spirit of Lake Worth that is truly unique in the Palm Beach area."
That was from the RFQ that went out on our Casino rehabilitation.
In the RFQ it states: Debate regarding the preservation of the Casino Building versus the redevelopment of the site by commercial developers has been controversial and divisive in the community, and has been a major factor contributing to the building’s current state of disrepair. After many years of debate and dialog, the City has decided to redesign and rehabilitate the current structure.
I repeat: The successful firm will demonstrate a clear understanding of the cultural and historical importance of the site as well as an understanding of the importance of the site to Lake Worth Residents. The selected team will develop an innovative design that captures the renewed spirit of Lake Worth that is truly unique in the Palm Beach area.
Why then is there so much controversy by a blogger and his wannabe pundits who state that this is not a rehabilitation but a total re-construct. Why are they so surprised? The importance of retaining the "site" is throughout the RFQ as well as its "rehabilitation."
For the angry commenter (Russ, Wes, Mark or whomever) who has tried to post here and there about my hypocrisy and using everything in his little book of puppet plays, please read the RFQ and you will not be so confused. Staying positive and finally getting a building of which we all can be proud, is an achievement that is finally happening.

Geez... Now I finally get it! It's the "SITE" that is of such great historic value and we all needed to hold hands across the front of John G's to save the "SITE".
That was and is the hypocracy.
We were "saving the building". Doesn't that sound familiar? It was the "BUILDING" that was finally deemed "structurally sound", not the site.
You are right.... we are finally doing something positive with the site. It was just disingenuous to call it what they are/were calling it.
So it's a rehab of the site. Now I got it.
Wes, is it finally sinking in? We are rehabing our casino at the site that it has been in since 1922. Thanks for finally seeing the light. I appreciate it as I am sure that everyone appreciates it. Now you can put it to rest.
Above was not Wes. It was Moose.
This won't be to rest until you and Mulvehill publicly explain why it was o.k. for them to deceive the public so the building wouldn't have to be "built on A1A" of course you would have to prove that first. Which you can't do so according to you it's o.k. to lie to get what you want?
NO one lied. Give it a rest. You will just never accept it. What would you rather have had done, Wes? Nothing built there? That is NOT what the people of LW want. Is that the least bit important in your mind or is it just proving that you are right.
On three: Everyone tell Wes he is right so that he can sleep at night and get over it--which he won't.
Let's elect Waterman, another Planner with a degree in economic development that understands that we need to go forward on our LW casino, in that spot.
Broken record.
The crybaby twins and the rest of the group are just mad because they FINALLY failed in their attempts to turn our PUBLIC beach over to their developer benefactors. The knocking of holes in the building, false engineers reports, ramming trough illegal contracts with FLIP COMPANIES that would have immediately turned over control to one of their developers pals .This group all lost their big under the table payoffs, their "finders fee" for delivering a multimillion dollar piece of beach front property to the hotel moguls!
Please, we must keep the crooks out of lake worth.
