On May 17, 2010, the FAB and a few other citizens took a tour of the Reverse Osmosis Plant that was under construction. The system is now finished and will continue to provide the highest quality water to Lake Worth and some Palm Beach County area residents. This new RO has been designed to meet Lake Worth's growing water supply needs well into the future and is one of the best decisions made by any Commission.
Today's Palm Beach Post says the Plant was completed earlier in the month and is on a 30 day test by the contractor, Reynolds, Inc. Look for the grand opening sometime in October.

Great news! Very happy to see our city moving forward in a positive way . This will benefit our taxpayers for years to come.
This is great news. However no one is talking about the tremendous amount of energy it takes to run the plant. I have followed Jupiters plant operation and saw that they scraped their old reverse osmosis system ( the one we just built) for newer technology that cost much less in electricity to operate. So what will the additional cost be for water in Lake Worth with this plant? More taxes and user fees I would guess.
Haven't heard that one. All I know is that Jupiter has some of the lowest costs for water in PB County. Jupiter relied on impact fees to pay for the plant and growth came to a screaming halt during this depression.
Our technology is the latest. Jupiter had to update theirs to catch up.
What's the alternative, run out of water? Beg SFWMD to let us draw more from surficial?
If you don't want to pay for good water, fire/police protection, capital improvements, then go live somewhere else. The haters all whine for improvements, then complain when we make improvements. Your nonsense is tired. Give it a rest.
For the rates we're paying for water it better taste like it comes from the swiss alps.
When are we going to see a significant drop in our rates? Lynn you have been promising the r.o. plant would lower rates. When do the lower rates start?
Sorry--I don't recall saying anything about our rates being lower. What I have said, is that we will be paying more over 5 years to pay for our RO. I have said that the cost for our RO saved us $3.5 million than going with PB County.
