Lake Worth Casino Rehabilitation

Comment Up

In spite of the fact that there is a blogger against our Casino project and there is a law suit, the Casino rehabilitation is proceeding. In about 18 months or thereabouts, we will have a wonderful building situated in the same spot where our casino has been since 1922. Some people engaged in politics are always complaining. If it is not about the lack of development (and this project will definitely bring jobs), or their complaint that we should be building to the sky, or that the entire city of Lake Worth looks like a mess, we finally have a Commission that is doing something at our beach that will make us all proud. AT LAST!

Morganti, the contractor says, "this Casino Rehabilitation Project is to be constructed under the Green Building Guidelines and consist of rehabilitating the existing 25,000 sf Lake Worth Municipal Casino Building to include restaurant, retail, ballroom and public spaces. Once completed, the fully rehabilitated Casino Building will serve as a regional attraction and will symbolize a brighter, more prosperous future for the City of Lake Worth."

Now why does anyone want to complain about this?
A building that will be paid from revenues, not tax dollars

Yup, there is one other--Greater Bay who was kicked out of town for non-performance. They are still holding the City up for ransom and still going forward with a $40 million dollar lawsuit. How do we ever get involved or find these people?

Cara Jennings and Mark Drautz were the only ones on the dais who voted "nay" to Greater Bay. You can blame this entire Greater Bay mess on Commissioners Nadine Burns, Dave Vespo and especially Retha Lowe. The commission then changed and Cara Jennings was the only commissioner who voted "nay" in retaining the project manager who just was not on top of things. (Greater Bay never submitted anything on time nor did they complete anything). The commission extended his contract on a 4/1 vote. The pool, as everyone knows, had shoddy work and some items were not even done. That commission, (Clemens, Vespo and Lowe) went against the advice of former city attorney Larry Karns, who told them not to hire Greater Bay for the pool repairs.

There are a few who I believe want us to lose this lawsuit just so that they can say "I told you so." In spite of non-performer Greater Bay, in spite of another blogger, as well as the constant and slanted reporting of The Lake Worth Herald, we are going forward and will have the most magnificent building ever, better than the one in 1922. And Greater Bay? They were always a loser.

A little while ago you blogged the new casino would be a world wide attraction, why the downgrade?
As usual you twist the facts or don't understand. Wes's issue with the casino is the way the entire process was manipulated. So once again the means justifies the end.
People are complaining that more than 1/2 the city is a mess not the entire city. You can't deny or spin that. Fortunately there are still a few people left that have pride in their homes.
If a professional firm did a real unbiased study on the casino project it would be determined the real blame for the greater bay mess would be the lawsuit Larry Mcnamara filed with money from john g's, or the bce that broke the contract.
Your narrow opinion can't change that.
It's great you have your own blog but either put a banner at the top that states all information in this blog is not truthful but opinion.

You spin it your way, I'll state the facts.

Money from John G's for a lawsuit? Where did you come up with that fairy tale? Myth-making again, Wes?

It will be an international attraction. Morganti said a "regional attraction." Please stop spinning...you are out of control.

Anonymous wants to ignore the fact that Mr. McCauley was a co-plaintiff with Mr. McNamara in the lawsuit against the illegal 40+ year contract approved by the 2006 Commission. This same gentleman recently supported all the candidates that anonymous apparently favors rather than our present commission.
This Commission offered an olive branch to Mr. Blackman by appointing him to the Historic Preservation Board; nevertheless, he continues to berate them incessantly.
Perhaps it is the constant diet of crow (Crow a la Maxwell, Crow a la Blockson, Crow a la Maxwell again, and the piece de resistance, that exotic Italian specialty, Crow a la Ramiccio that has deranged their perceptions to such an extent that they are accusing John G's of financing the lawsuit against the illegal contract.

McCauley just flipped his lid. That happened a few years ago when he voted for Obama and threw away all his friends because he was mad and angry at the world. To vote for Obama the biggest Socialist around and then condemn Cara Jennings for trying to help the plight of the poor, is inconsistent.

He voted for Ramiccio because he hates his former friends more.

A former friend.

Wes said, and I am not going to take the time to respond to the "other blogger's" CRAZY interpretation of what is going on with the Casino building. She would like to think, as others would like to as well, that I am somehow against the project.

Your response, Lynn.

The only thing that I can say here is, the other blogger likes to resort to name calling. This happens only when someone does not know what in hell they are talking about or thinks that he is the only one that DOES know what in hell he is talking about. In this case, I am leaving it up to the experts, REG Architects and Morganti. NO ONE CARES WHETHER WES believes this is or is NOT a rehab. Wes always sees the negative in everything.

This election proves that we all want to focus on the positive and we want to start to do things right and get things done.

I perceive you 'two bloggers' have not quite figured it out yet.

Same goes for Mr Remiccio . . . who, astonishingly, doesn't seem to know what time it is (yes . . . he should buy a watch while he's in Switzerland).

I believe both of you are going to be surprised by our new mayor's stance . . .
providing either of you could blink . . . and hear what's being said to you from the dais.

Your blogs are somewhat entertaining. The responses are quite telling.

I've not found very many solutions to Lake Worth's perpetual problems in either of your rants . . . uh,'blogs'.

It is entertaining to 'stop by' both your blogs once in a while . . . but at-the-end-of-the-day:

you both only display the 'fringe' that need's to be cut away.

With all due respect,

Ms. Hadda Nuff

At the end of the day, YOU are still an anonymous poster. Glad that we can entertain you and that you are the only one who has found the "light." So tell us, what is our new mayor's stance on the Casino, that is going forward, by the way.

Rants? No one rants here. In fact, it is the commission that needs to come up with solutions, not bloggers. How stupid can you be?

Anonymous said...

Hadda nuff? You sound as if you are intellectually superior to everyone in this city. How can you stand yourself? Don't blink.

Hadda nuff of hadda. Hadda, take Peter Timm with you when you jump off that cliff. You can take Maxwell as well. What anout that outspoken Carrie?
