Well, what more can we expect? Instead of supporting this balanced Budget where waste was reduced across the Board in most every department, Ms. Maxwell takes the Union line even suggesting that what the City did by amending the Benefit Plans might not be legal. That's very serious! She admits that she has been endorsed by the Unions and that means big campaign contributions. Did she write this letter or did someone from one of the Unions? Perhaps it was someone from the Dirty Dozen.
Does she want to bankrupt this City? The only Commissioner who did not support the Budget was Scott Maxwell--perhaps the joke's on us and Scott and Lisa are related and we just weren't told? She says that the employees are the "back-bone of Lake Worth" but in reality it is the taxpayers, those people who pay for all this stuff and the ones who vote who are the back-bone of Lake Worth.
Mayor Varela, who supports Ms. Maxwell, voted with Suzanne Mulvehill on this Budget as well as to amend the Pension Plans. He agreed that the City had to rein in spending in order to keep pace with decreasing property tax revenue and that we had to amend these Union Plans.

The Public is totally confused by the Mayor as he has agreed with Commissioner Mulvehill 99.9% of the time. The Mayor has flipped just like a dolphin. One difference, dolphins are innocent animals.
All the while smiling as she writes this!
THE LETTER:
September 29, 2010
Dear City of Worth Employee:
I am aware that you are facing the threat of benefit and pension cuts as part of the proposed 2010-2011 budget and I wanted to convey the concern and support that I have for our city's workers. I have worked for and represented educators in
I oppose reducing any employee benefit including pensions, because I do not believe that employees deserve to be asked to make this sacrifice when there are clearly non-essential services and programs that our City can cut for the upcoming fiscal year. The proposed city budget is irresponsible in recommending that the fiscal health of the city be made on the backs of those very men and women who are dedicated and devoted workers in our community! This budget proposal does nothing other than strike fear and uncertainty into the lives of our municipal employees and I for one can't stand by and not offer my outrage and strong opposition to these proposed measures.
My top priority will be balancing the budget by eliminating wasteful, non-essential, or duplicative services first before recommendations are considered to ask for any type of sacrifice from city staff and their families. This should clearly be a very last resort. You are the backbone of
The Police Benevolent Association and the Professional Firefighters and Paramedics of Palm Beach County have endorsed me and I am proud of my years of service to public employees. I hope to have your support and vote in the City of

Maxwell is not fit to be a public servant. Perhaps she should apply to be a union rep. This ignorant hag apparently does not have the slightest idea that as an elected official she is to stand in the shoes of THE ELECTORATE,NOT the city employees. That means that she is SUPPOSED to act in the best interest of WE TAXPAYERS,not the people that WORK for the taxpayers !The welfare of Lake Worth and the taxpayers that live here mean nothing to her. If our employees think it is so bad here, they can LEAVE. Lake Worth needs people working here that understand that they are here for the benefit of the TAXPAYERS and not themselves.Based on this letter, Lisa Maxwell should bow out of the race.
BY ALL MEAN Ms. Maxwell, THROW OUT THE BABY AND SAVE THE BATH WATER!
DOES THIS REALLY SOUND REASONABLE!
What good are the employee pensions if the city is bankrupt and cannot run effectively?
Ms Maxwell’s letter sounds so caring. However, is it the truth? I think not.
What is this magic remedy Ms. Maxwell knows that governors, city officials and mayors nationwide who are equally over burdened with pensions do not?
With her myopic view from ‘the cheap seats’, what does Ms Maxwell know that Mayor Varela, the city manager, financial director and the majority of our sitting commissioners do not?
The truth is… nothing.
Unfortunately, you give our Mayor way too much credit here. He is voting the correct way on MOST issues, and even on amending the pension benefit plans, but he is supporting MAXWELL. He is a flipper and about the worst sort of politician. Sorry, Rene, but you are a big disappointment.
Lake Worth Cannot afford a lisa maxwell truth and morally challenged element!
lisa maxwell is a product of Lennar builders, which was given $251,000,000.- to survive, of Our and City Employees,Unions pension Funds, Taxes-bailout money.
Causing pension cuts for all Unions.
She cannot speak the truth as it will show gerrimandering in a dishonest way(her nature, obviously)and her uselesness. Ignoring the financial crash caused by her building industry overbuilding where she became fully experienced in bankruptcy, show underhandedness
with builders' use of fraudulent appraisals, mortgages,Ninja loans
and any conceivable dishonest way of defrauding innocent taxpayers, including all UNIONS' pension Funds. No bailout for Citizens losing their homes due to her element's fraudulent actions.
Placing the blame for theft of our Employees tax money on the Commissioner she wants to replace, with fabrications, shows her the vicious disrespectful Citizens hating ( ask P&Z Board John Paxman)
creature she is!
Lake Worth City emlployees don't be conned by this lying BACKPAC full of LIES ......!
All papers mentioned that immoral ,criminal bailout!
