The RFQ's were opened yesterday at 2pm at City Hall to determine what companies have an interest in our Casino and taking on the project "at risk." What this means is, any costs over our $6 million budget, they must absorb. The following submitted their qualifications:
Straticon Construction Services. Read about Straticon.
Hedrick Brothers Construction
Kaufman Lynn General Contractors
Kast Construction Company
The Morganti Group
Annunziata General Contractors
The RFQ.
Commissioner Maxwell, saying that the city "is moving way too fast" on the Casino project, had another complaint directed at Staff that was totally groundless. This time his complaint was the fact that the $6 million cap for the total Casino project was not mentioned in the RFQ.
None of these companies have been living in a vacuum over the past year. They all know of our $6 mil budget. But guess what? A budget amount is not put into an RFQ. An RFQ is for QUALIFICATIONS only. The budget amount comes later in the Contract. It will be up to the firm then to decide if it can work within our parameters. If not, the City then picks the next highest rated company on the list.
Let's stop these wildfires and hope that Lisa Maxwell doesn't pick up on Commissioner Scott Maxwell's complaint as having merit. Don't forget, Scott was the Commissioner that torpedoed the beach project during the Romano regime.
