The Town of Palm Beach is newsworthy lately. They have always been in a world of their own. They want to continue to allow professionals who sit on their Boards (such as attorneys, architects, etc) to be able to have their clients come before them for project reviews, etc. without recusing themselves.
The State of Florida Ethics Law does not allow this "conflict" but Palm Beach always had an exemption. Larry Karns has said that State Law preempts local law.
Mayor McDonald who is a real estate lawyer in Palm Beach is opposed to any change in this very possible, if not probable, ethical question.
