Let the free market fix the problems on healthcare

Unfortunately her sensible solution was not to be.
1. “Pass the full Obamacare repeal bill. That gets us to 2008 when health care was far cheaper than it is today under the burdensome, heavily bureaucratic Obamacare mandates.
2. “Each state needs to decide what it wants to spend on health care and what it wants to offer its citizens, if anything. The federal government has repeatedly proved itself a failure on this issue for decades. They need to get out of creating monopolies in health care and punishing free market competition.
3. “All the federal government needs to do after repealing Obamacare is to pass a bill that allows any health insurance product to be sold across state lines with no minimum federal mandates. Period.
4. “Medicare eligible Senior citizens and poor people on Medicaid should have the option of choosing a voucher to spend toward the purchase of any type of healthcare plan they want, then put the surplus, if any in a Health savings account.
5. “I’d also encourage the states to pass liability shields for charity clinics. If doctors, nurses and facilities want to offer free healthcare, then the clinic and practitioners should be free from the threat of lawsuits.”
Her bottom line?
Let the market fix the problems caused by Obamacare.

A Judge who cares about the law

From the Blaze:

"Judge Anthony Trenga, who was appointed by former President George W. Bush, said in his 32-page ruling that Trump was legally allowed to ban travel from those specific countries and that the executive order was not discriminatory in nature as the Palestinian activist who filed the lawsuit requesting an injunction had suggested.

Trenga wrote that the president “has unqualified authority to bar physical entry to the United States at the border.” He also pointed out that the executive order itself does not mention religion and has a “state secular purpose” of protecting U.S. citizens from terrorist attacks.

The judge didn’t view Trump’s campaign rhetoric about a “Muslim ban” as being dispositive and did not accord it the weight that Judge Derrick Watson in Hawaii did.

Here’s a good breakdown as to why Judge Watson’s opinion was wrong, including finding a violation of constitutional rights of non-citizens.

The interpretation of the judge in Virginia is much more in line with normal interpretation of the law.
Generally, you interpret a law, or in this case an order, based on the plain language, you don’t go looking at everything that may have ever been said on the subject, not even necessarily on the order itself.

You don’t look beyond it at intent unless the law/order is itself unclear, which this order is not. The order itself has no religion and has no discriminatory aspect about it. Not to mention as the judge in Virginia correctly notes, it is the purview of the president to set immigration policy, not the courts.

So thankfully there’s at least one judge who cares about the law and not reading his own opinion into it."

The Smart Ass Chelsea Chick

No, not that Chelsea--

I thought she probably was a New Yorker but I found out she originally was from New Jersey. Most wise-guys I have ever known come from NY.  Handler, who thinks she's funny, was a vocal supporter of the 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and was critical of her opponent Donald Trump. In 2016, she told The Daily Beast that a Trump presidency would be the "end of our civilization." Supposedly she is a comedian but I find nothing funny about her smart ass "act."

Progressive Socialism is a failed premise - The Healthcare Fiasco

Former Congressman Allen West has observed the GOP House leadership and finds it wanting. His junior officers in the Army were taught to plan, not react. Mr. West has been in Congress and knows the inner workings. here are his thoughts on what happened to the repeal and replace fiasco. And then he tells you how this could have been avoided.
This is where we are in America with progressive socialism. Some still don’t believe the stove is hot, and that progressive socialism is a failed premise of governance. And here comes the GOP trying to keep the people away from the stove, the flaming hot stove of Obamacare, a massive tax and welfare endeavor that will burn this nation. But the problem is, the GOP wants to try and keep the stove on, in an attempt to regulate its heat, instead of shutting it off.

Abandoned vehicle finally gets cited

This car has been parked illegally along John Prince Park property on the shoulder of the road. For nearly two months, there was no license tag until a few days ago. Now they have one day to move it or it gets towed.

Bill Hager on Sober Homes

Rep. Bill Hager keeps all of his constituents informed by sending out a newsletter. All elected officials should do this. This is a snippet out of his letter that has a special interest for us here in Lake Worth. Bill Hager in the House is the go-to guy if you have any questions on Sober Homes. Jeff Clemens is the one in the Senate.

Bill Hager says, "House Bill 807 relates to sober homes; an issue I have been working on for more than a decade. I know that this is a priority bill for our residents, and I’m pleased to say it has one more committee stop before it goes to the House Floor."

The Senate companion bill has also unanimously passed 2 committees. The bill cracks down on unethical marketing and referral practices that enable the bad operators.

Both sides of the aisle on the American Healthcare Act

"Over the last several months, one of my top priorities has been listening to people in our community about how they will be impacted by health care reform. I’ve heard over and over again about the incredible burden that Obamacare has placed on 18th District families. Because of Obamacare, two of our counties now have only one insurer on the individual exchange, while premiums and deductibles have become beyond unaffordable.

During my more than 12 years in the Army, I never went into one battle that was finished with one shot and I never went in with the perfect plan either, but what I learned is that when we went in unified and we worked together, we never lost. Our broken healthcare system will not be fixed overnight. As I have said from the beginning, the only way we can fix the failures of Obamacare is through a fully transparent process that engages voices all across the country. Moving forward, I hope my colleagues on both sides of the aisle will join me in working to improve our nation’s healthcare system to ensure that everyone has the liberty to choose the health care that is best for their life.”

~ U.S. Rep. Brian Mast

"President Trump and Speaker Ryan should be ashamed of themselves for trying to force through a disastrous bill that would have ripped away health coverage from tens of millions of Americans, dramatically increased premiums, and severely cut Medicare and Medicaid. The American people spoke loud and clear; they do not support gutting their own health benefits in order to give massive tax cuts to health insurance companies. House Republicans need to start working with Democrats on real policy solutions that will benefit the American people."

~ U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch

Small Yellow Quaker Parrot

Last week, Katie took me to the Green Barn in west Delray where they sell everything orchid. Some of the arrangements were out of this world and probably out of my monetary reach. There they had this cute little parrot.

Known affectionately as Pocket Parrots by many, the Quaker Parrot has exploded in popularity as a pet over the last several years. These small birds have big personalities, making them a great choice for those who want a parrot but are unable or unprepared to care for one of the larger parrot species.

Sober Home on Hillcrest

This is the same street where our Vice Mayor lives--a little bit of trivia.

1410 Hillcrest Drive

Joyce Shea from ROLO ·
Car was stolen from this sober home last night! This is more of a vent. So this home has changed operators several times. In the past 6 months there have been two robberies there where PBSO has asked us to look at our home surveillance video to see if we could see the crimes being committed which we captured. I called the sober task force today just over it, but was left sort of deflated as it was a v/m and it took a lot of ringing before that even picked up. Hope I hear back. Seriously considering erecting a billboard/sign in my front yard that says Sober homes are not welcome in this family community! The nail in the coffin was the "victim" said yeah this is supposed to be a Christian run home and he just rents to anybody! I don't begrudge anyone their hard work for their sobriety but these slum lords who run their homes as a boarding house with a revolving door should be shut down.

1410 Hillcrest Dr, Lake Worth, FL is a single family home that contains 2,072 sq ft and was built in 1966. It contains 2 bathrooms.

The Zestimate for this house is $275,459, which has decreased by $512 in the last 30 days. The Rent Zestimate for this home is $2,000/mo, which has decreased by $8/mo in the last 30 days. The property tax in 2015 was $2,127. The tax assessment in 2015 was $116,634, an increase of 0.8% over the previous year.

Entrepreneur on Lake Osborne Drive

Perhaps his phone number gets him off the hook from a ticket. We don't need this on Lake Osborne Drive. Selling anything on county public land without a permit or a license is against the law. Even parking on county property after dusk is subject to a fine and people do this all of the time.

Chicago - Rahm Emanuel exposed

"Oh-oh! Rahm’s private emails are spilling the beans
By Thomas Lifson

A rock has been turned over in Chicago, and all kinds of revelations are scattering out.Bill Ruthhart and Hal Dardick report in the Chicago Tribune:

Mayor Rahm Emanuel's personal email accounts have served as a private avenue of influence where executives and investors sought favorable action from City Hall, raising questions about whether some of the messages crossed the line into lobbying and violated the city's ethics law, the Chicago Tribune has found.

Usually, such requests don't become public. But late last year, pressure from open records lawsuits resulted in Emanuel releasing a trove of emails in which he conducted public business on personal email. The messages offer a rare look at how the mayor operates out of the public spotlight and reveal who has his ear."
