Scott Bessent Humiliated New York Times With Two Words About Biden That Left Them Speechless
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent walked into the belly of the beast on Wednesday when he appeared at the New York Times' DealBook Summit at Lincoln Center in New York City. The Times brought in moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin expecting a typical Washington, D.C. interview where a Cabinet official would politely dodge questions and stay on message.
Instead, Bessent delivered a blistering takedown of the so-called "paper of record" while standing on their own stage. When Sorkin tried to set up a question about whether America had entered a "new normal" under President Trump, Bessent cut him off at the knees.
"Andrew, there's no new normal," Bessent fired back. "I actually don't read the New York Times anymore… occasionally people send me articles, and there's just this fever swamp."
The Treasury Secretary didn't stop there. "You know, in 20, 30, 40, 50 years — The New York Times is no longer the paper of record," Bessent stated.² The newspaper recently published a hit piece claiming Trump was "slowing down" and questioning his "mental capacity."
Bessent called it "100% fake" and joked about Trump's relentless schedule: "He only called me twice at 2 in the morning last week, instead of three times."
These journalists covered for Biden's obvious decline for years. Now they're obsessed with scrutinizing every Trump appearance for signs of fatigue.
