Democrats want expensive ObamaCare continued

Federal Workers Union Calls on Democrats to Support GOP Bill and End Shutdown

The union is the first major Democratic-aligned group to demand that Democrats support the GOP’s proposal of a ‘clean continuing resolution.’

A labor union representing U.S. government employees has called on Democrats in Congress to support a GOP-backed funding bill that would end the government shutdown.

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), a union representing 820,000 employees, published a demand from its president, Everett Kelley, on its website on Oct. 27.

Kelley called on leaders of Congress to “reopen the government immediately under a clean continuing resolution that allows continued debate on larger issues.”

“Both political parties have made their point, and still there is no clear end in sight,” Kelley wrote of the shutdown, which appears to be based on a disagreement between Democrats and Republicans on reauthorizing Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare) health insurance subsidies.

The ACA was born 15 years ago. Republicans have had 15 years to come up with something, anything to replace it. And they've come up with nothing. Zero.

They're great at griping and complaining. But when it comes to doing anything, they got zip.

Actualkly Republicans have come up with alternatives but shot down by Democrats. Republicans have previously put forward several proposals, including the American Health Care Act and the Better Care Reconciliation Act in 2017, but these bills failed to gain enough support to pass. Other concepts have involved encouraging the use of health savings accounts and letting insurers sell plans across state lines.
Obamacare is just not affordable.

Just make it fair for people who cannot get health care insurance through work or otherwise.

@4:14...Recent news reports and fact-checks indicate that this is a misattribution or a fabricated quote, likely stemming from contentious debates over government funding and healthcare issues in October 2025.

@4:01...we don't have socialized medicine in this country. What all you need to do is be employed by a company that provides healthcare instead of bemoaning that you don't have it. Get a better job.
