Rental Rates Soar out of reach for many

Rental costs are rising faster than wages

The rising rental prices have contributed to the increase in inflation.

This puts enormous pressure on people who earn the least amount of money. This has been a problem since the 1960s, but it’s accelerated in the last few years. Biden's inflation has a lot to do with it. And then there comes greed.

What brought this to mind was the article on the front page of the Palm Beach Post on Saturday. The opening sentence mentions our Lake Worth friend, Michael Moore, who is known here as "Sugar Bear." We always see him at city Hall in his wheel chair.

Well, his rent just went up 33.3% and it is unaffordable.  His monthly income will not even meet the cost of rent.

This Tuesday, the commission will vote on a state of emergency regarding rental rates in our city. This will be New business D on the agenda: Resolution No. 57-2022 – declaring a housing crisis state of emergency in the City of Lake Worth Beach

I'm a firm believer in supply and demand however...People over Profits is an old campaign slogan but nothing is more true at this time in our city. As 1/3rd of our residents live in poverty, something has to be done about the obscene rental rates.

When the USA becomes like Cuba then you will see all Cubans and other immigrants returning to their homelands like it says in the Bible!

The immigrants aren't leaving. We were all immigrants dumb dumb. What does the Bible say about that?

In fact, far from leaving, the Cubans will be running the place!

I had to get a roommate as my rent went up so high. Hope it works out.

Why equate immigrants with illegals?

Yep I agree with that I remember lake Worth was between 550 and 7:50 you get a two bedroom two bathroom now that same place is running for $2,100 and you got to make three times that to even qualify for these places so who's making almost 9 Grand a month

I remember in Florida they had tomato pickers you would pick tomatoes and they would give you a place to stay and they might have said out of your check and then they turned out that you had to shop at The company store so at the end of the week you ended up owing them money

They did that with the coal miners too!

Where do you want them to move, 7:45. This is a working-class neighborhood. Most of the people who are well-off in Lake Worth, are retired, or have careers in fields that are no longer even available without at least 6 years of graduate school.

Do you want to chase all of the wait staff, the UPS store workers, the countless people who do things for you everyday, that are never given a thought.

Your line of reasoning doesn't keep up with the times, with current events.

Things change!
