Lake Worth extends legal services with Eminent Domain experts

Last night was another meeting from hell. You have to wonder if some of these commissioners are asleep at the wheel, always angry, never have a clue, just plain evil or what. But one thing is certain, two of them are extremely rude--not just some of the time but most all of the time--and that will be a later story.

The visionaries are still on full throttle to grab private property on Boutwell Road...Eminent Domain. The legal dictionary describes Eminent Domain as follows: The power to take private property for public use by a state, municipality, or private person or corporation authorized to exercise functions of public character, following the payment of just compensation to the owner of that property.

The desire to take this property on Boutwell Road is NOT for the good of the public but for the good of the DEVELOPER and this visionary's dream of developing the Park of Commerce by spending $8.7 million allotted in the latest budget. We will NEVER recapture that investment in ad-valorem taxes in this century. So, why is it so important to Maxwell, Triolo and Amoroso and so important to TAKE private property?

The City entered into a legal services agreement with Caldwell Pacetti Edwards Schoech & Viator LLP on February 5, 2015 to provide certain legal services to the City concerning land acquisition and potential eminent domain proceedings pertaining to the proposed Boutwell Road improvement project. The City amended the agreement and it will now be open-ended.
