Understanding the purpose of Islam

Comment Up

The terrorist Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan, who calls himself a "soldier of Allah" wrote a letter to the Pope praising “jihad. He also has written ISIS requesting that he become a member. The FBI, Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Senate all conducted investigations after the shootings. The DoD classified the events as workplace violence, pending prosecution of Hasan in a court-martial. The Senate released a report describing the mass shooting as "the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil since September 11, 2001.

The purpose of Islam, with the often violent means it can and does use to accomplish it, is to extend its rule, in the name of Allah, to all the world. The world cannot be at “peace” until it is all Muslim. The “terror” we see does not primarily arise from modern totalitarian theories, nationalism, or from anywhere else but what is considered, on objective evidence, to be a faithful reading of a mission assigned by Allah to the Islamic world, which has been itself largely procrastinating about fulfilling its assigned mission.

Blog post should read "Understanding the purpose of Radical Islam."

And just a question: are the Christian missionaries that travel the world spreading the word of Jesus and converting souls to Christianity in any way representing abortion doctor murderers who kill in the name of Jesus or those "Christians" who belong to Westboro Baptist Church?

The blog was titled correctly. As far as the rest of your commentary, why don't you do some research and find out the answers to your asinine questions--not written by an atheist or Christian hater though.

So you're insulting me over a couple questions? But we're not allowed to disagree or insult you. Got it.

Anyway...since I am a Christian I can say that abortion doctor killers don't represent my beliefs. Neither do Westboro Baptist Church members. They represent a radical and extremist interpretation and application of Bible teachings.

Kinda like radical, extremist, and fundamentalist Muslims don't represent mainstream Islam.

And notice, still no insults despite yours.

You sort of sound radical and extreme. Westboro Babtist Church isn't beheading gays, are they? We are talking about an entire Quran that tells Muslims to chop off hands, feet and kill infidels. We are not talking about some Christian fundamentalists who believe that marriage is between and man and a woman and do not believe in killing babies. I don't see your comparison as credible. In fact, gays are punishable by death under Sharia.

Muslims, if they believe in the Quran, believe that nonbelievers are to be fought and subdued until they either accept humiliation, convert to Islam, or are killed.

How do you compare that to your mainstream fundamental beliefs?

The comparison between Christian extremists and radical Islamists was not a literal one, Lynn, but was done to demonstrate that every faith has its extremists that commit acts that are not representative of the larger group. No, there aren't Christians beheading people, but there are Christians who genuinely believe the Bible gives them the right to kill abortion docters or picket the funerals of gays, war veterans and others who they feel are in violation of the Bible's teachings. Most mainstream Christians, including myself, while we believe in the Bible, wouldn't kill abortion doctors or picket the funerals of gays or others.

To honestly believe that every Muslim is a terrorist is to believe that Fox News, whose #2 owner is Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, is owned, in large part, by a jihadist.

To be sure, there are people in the U.S. today that hold these beliefs. Allen West for one. Pamela Geller, too. These two right-wing extremists also tend to paint large portions of Americans with a broad brush, be they liberals, the homeless, immigrants or minorities, to demonize or belittle them. History will, no doubt, lump the Gellers and the Wests into the same group of people who threw all of America's Japanese population into internment camps during WWII.

To be sure, West and Geller don't represent the views of most of the mainstream Republican Party. In fact, one only has to listen to the comments of George W. Bush a few weeks after 9/11 to realize that people like West and Geller represent a distinct minority within their own party.

Bottom line, again: every group has its radicals, extremists and fanatics. Radical Islamists are a big problem. But they represent only a fraction of the Muslim community.

Ok--you got the last word. I disagree with you so this is going no where.

The price has invested in numerous American companies, why not?. Smart man. He attributes his fortunes to God’s blessing, He holds liberal religious and political views and does not follow the Quran literally. He has a Global vision of tolerance and mutual respect between countries, faiths and communities. That is so much different than the tens of thousands fighting in the mid-East and ISIS that is recruiting malcontents from America and the U.K.

Hey Anon at 10:14….make sure you let Lynn know about the Prince. A Muslim who "holds liberal religious and political views and does not follow the Quran literally.”

You see, they exist.

Lynn Anderson said...

There are a few but you can't compare this Prince, one the the wealthiest people in the world next to Warren Buffet, to the average Muslim peasant in the mid-East...can you?

Hmm, my thought is why follow the Quran at all ?

No insults. Nothing but an intellectual debate...and you didn't post my last comment.

You're real good about posting other people's thoughts and ideas and making them yours but when you're forced to share and explain them, you have nothing. At least nothing that makes sense.

You're afraid of facts, Lynn. They make you and your Tea Party friends look small.

Keep on hating.

I have asked nicely not to come here with your snide remarks. There is no reason to continue the argument with someone with Mcarthyism tactics. Take it somewhere else or------start your own liberal, left wing, athiest, progressive blog. Thanks.

Tell me what was snide in that deleted comment, Lynn, because I really want to know what I’m writing that is so offensive to you. I don’t want to offend or insult even when you continue time after time to name call and offfend me.

No, what I suspect is that when the logic overwhelms you and starts making sense you revert to your comment policy to purge comments in an effort to deter additional comments.

Please show me exactly what was so wrong with my comment.

Thanks.

Your last comment made several unfounded assumptions that were snide:
You're afraid of facts, Lynn. They make you and your Tea Party friends look small. Keep on hating...

Now you say that "Logic overwhelms me." You are insulting and can't even admit that. I stand up for what I believe and write under my own name--and you don't scare me.

Number one I am not a member of the Tea party. I am a conservative Democrat although I will admit that the Democratic party has drastically changed for the worse.
Number Two, I don't hate. I give an opinion that differs from yours.

Therefore, the argument can't go anywhere.

to Anonymous--the person who loves to take swipes AT this author. This blog is not designed for you to come over and personally attack this author. What it is, anonymous, is to debate the subject. You got so far off or the subject to begin with. I don't plan on posting your comments. I don't plan on changing my policy to suit you so that you can take swipes.
DO YOU GET IT?
I fully understand that you don't like Christians and that you love Muslims. In spite of your political correctness, Muslims probably would not like you?
