Well if Mayor Triolo and Vice Mayor Scott Maxwll want to sing "Take me out to the ballgame," it will have to be in West Palm Beach or some other location.
What a damn shame. We have four city commissioners along with County commissioner Shelley Vana now bawling their eyes out because the Astros and Nationals had some good sense and have ruled out, for good, our commission's constant prodding and promotion of John Prince Park as a stadium.
It seems that Lake Worth officials were still working overtime to make this happen.
“After a comprehensive review, John Prince Park is no longer
being considered as an option because of the geographical limitations
and environmental restrictions which make it unfeasible for this
project. We thank community leaders in and around Lake Worth for
their sincere interest and we hope they will support our vision to build
a facility at the Haverhill site in West Palm Beach.”

Yay!!!! I don't live by the park (unfortunately, it would be better than the other uppity "park" I live in ) but I love it and the lake and would hate to see it ruined. And it would be ruined.
What does it say about these Commissioners, that they thought it was O.K. to destroy something as wonderful as John Prince park ? The people of Palm Beach county are being ignored by politicians at all levels. It's time for some changes.
Do I remember correctly that these commissioners, when they were running, regularly accused former commissioners of being interested in "shiny objects" and that Scott Maxwell was the one who used the term on a regular basis to show that he focused on solid reality. This project may have sold a couple of more newspapers or smoothies for Andy Amoroso but would have been a traffic disaster for the rest of us and a continued degradation of the environment had the hare-brained idea come to fruition.
Awh gee, what's Marty and Teresa going to do now?
