We need a little of this aggressiveness and enthusiasm in Lake Worth to curb violators hell bent on destroying our city and who have no respect for anyone but themselves. There are a lot of these people and they are crawling into even the best of neighborhoods. Some have been allowed to get away with breaking our laws for years. Investors have bought a lot of property here lately, filling them with renters who literally have started car repair businesses in their front lawn (reported to code and happening in one of our top neighborhoods in this city, Lake Clarke Terrace) as well as selling mattresses, etc. It needs to STOP. This video shows the arrogance towards enforcement of laws. It seems the attitude is prevalent all over but let's smash it in Lake Worth.

Actually when the cop reads the law - he is wrong and I would have not allowed the him or anyone else ON my property w/out a proper search warrant. Private Property is NOT mentioned by the cop (as he reads the ordinance) but PUBLIC PROPERTY is - it doesn't say prohibited FROM public view but prohibited from washing car ON Public Property.
When Our Elected Obey the Laws and honor their oath, we might have a chance to get the people to follow their example!
I am rather sure that town has ordinances just like we do where people are telling officers to stick it.
Still agree w/the homeowner and
imho this cop should've been told to 'stick it' because his badge doesn't give him any more or special rights.
Think about it - he read the law but couldn't comprehend Private vs Public Property even after the citizen 'caught' it! I bet he makes near 100K a year w/benefits and we trust him w/a gun! If he's too stupid to read and understand what he has read, to do his job (no mission creep) then we have bigger problems!
Cops have no authority to make laws up (or change definitions of the words either) as they go along and expect citizens to obey!
The past commission and city manager gutted code enforcement.
I have spoken to people in the code enforcement department and they say things have improved.
We need the current commission to help restore our code enforcement to a high level.
STOP right now with the myth of the former commission "gutting" code enforcement. It was NOT gutted. It was re-organized as it was not effective. Now that Stanton hiree, William Waters, has written ordinances that might have some teeth, hopefully we might see some difference. Who in the heck knows.
At this point the former commission is our current commission, time to stop passing the buck. They passed all these ordinance and promised change but still no code case open on the problem property I've been reporting now for years.
So the former commission (Cara Jennings Etal) didn't gut code enforcement, but instead RE-ORGANIZED.
If their RE-ORGANIZATION was such a good thing, why do we have so many problems with our code enforcement??????
2:40pm...The current commission didn't gut code enforcement!!!!
