Believe in Sustainability?

William Waters and Patsy Grissom

The only thing not capable of being sustained is the retention of employees in our code department. Lately we have had Dana Nichols resign, her last day on August 27, Patsy Grissom who retired and Edgar Caraballo resigned yesterday. We already know about Karen Vaughan and Sergio Madera. There are nine employment positions posted on the City of Lake Worth's web site, five of which are in the Department of Community Sustainability.

Citizens have put a lot of pressure on the commission to do something about slum and blight that is out of control.  Properties go unattended for years and nothing seems to get done. They have initiated stronger codes lately hoping that will give the code department more teeth to force owners to clean up their properties.

Positions available in the Community Sustainability Department:

Plans Reviewer Inspector--salary range $24.84hr to $26.56hr
Planning and Preservation Manager--salary $28.74 to $48.87hr
Community Planner--salary $21.45 to $22.52hr
Community Code Coordinator--$16.80hr
Administrative Support Supervisor--$18.53 to $23.18hr
