Organizers have confirmed that President Trump will speak on the convention’s opening night, with Vice President JD Vance scheduled to headline the following evening. The event is billed as a mid-cycle rally to bring together Republican leaders, delegates, and candidates just months before voters head to the polls.

Trump called for the convention as a way to rally Republicans ahead of November’s crucial elections, according to CBS News reporting. While the precise date for Trump’s speech is listed only as “Wednesday,” and the venue details have not been released, the timing falls squarely in the period when both parties traditionally ramp up efforts to energize their bases and drive turnout.

The lineup of confirmed and invited speakers reflects a broad cross-section of the party’s current leadership and rising stars. Dozens of top U.S. military leaders faced polygraph examinations this summer as the Pentagon intensified its hunt for those behind leaks of classified information on American weapons reserves, a move that has drawn sharp criticism from some officials caught in the probe.

Earlier this summer, several dozen U.S. military and civilian officials, including personnel from U.S. Central Command and other combatant commands, were ordered to take polygraph tests as part of an expanding national security leak investigation.

The Pentagon’s extraordinary step targeted those with access to some of the nation’s most sensitive defense secrets, as officials sought to identify the source of leaks about U.S. weapons stockpiles and other classified matters. The push followed mounting frustration at the highest levels, three sources told CBS News that President Donald Trump was furious about the leaks and demanded aggressive action.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who has made combating leaks a public priority, announced in July that the Pentagon and Justice Department had formed a joint task force to identify and prosecute those suspected of leaking classified government information to the media.

Hegseth also granted the Pentagon’s Office of General Counsel broad authority to demand records and cooperation from military officials for leak probes, and Pentagon personnel were instructed to respond to such requests within two days. These moves signaled a dramatic escalation in the federal government’s approach to internal security, raising the pressure on senior leaders across the Defense Department.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell underscored the seriousness of the effort, stating: “The Department does not comment on internal personnel or investigative matters but takes all leaks of classified national security information extremely seriously and investigates accordingly. Securing classified information is critical to ensuring the security of the United States and of our troops deployed around the world.”

Byron Donalds takes questions, discusses key issues at Delray Beach campaign stop

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds spoke to a standing-room-only crowd during a campaign stop in Florida, addressing key issues and taking questions from the audience.

Donalds characterized the race for governor as "a choice between common sense and crazy."

He then spent the next hour explaining why he believes he's the common sense candidate, answering questions on topics such as condo associations, auto insurance costs, and preparing the next generation for leadership roles.

"The Florida dream stays alive and well when our children have the ability to take the mantle of leadership in our state," Donalds said.

Donalds expressed his support for Amendment 3, a property tax reform measure, and said he does not oppose data centers in Florida as long as they are appropriately located.

"There is no reason why a data center should be next door to somebody's house or literally in somebody's backyard. Just set them away from residential neighborhoods," Donalds said.

An American Airlines flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Newark had to divert to Baltimore on Thursday night after a passenger allegedly launched into a drunken tirade that quickly got out of hand.

Witnesses told TMZ the man appeared drunk and began yelling at the passenger beside him about Jesus and going to hell. When a Black flight attendant tried to calm him down, he allegedly called her a racial slur and also used an anti-gay slur.

Not exactly the friendly skies, unless your idea of travel includes a one-man meltdown at cruising altitude.

Families of 9/11 victims are demanding New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stay away from the 25th anniversary ceremony at Ground Zero, and a resurfaced 2023 social media post is fueling the pressure.

Giovanni Galante lost his wife Grace on September 11, 2001. Now he is leading a petition drive that has drawn tens of thousands of signatures calling on ceremony organizers to block Mamdani from participating in the commemoration this September.

The petition, hosted on Change.org, cites Mamdani's public record, his association with online commentator Hasan Piker, and what families describe as a pattern of minimizing the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.

Mamdani says he plans to attend anyway. His office did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Maria Bartiromo's lawyer says she was never fired and is still on Fox's payroll

Maria Bartiromo's attorney is flatly denying that Fox News terminated the veteran anchor, calling reports of her firing "absolutely and unequivocally false", and warning that evidence and witnesses will surface in court if necessary.

The public standoff began Thursday when Fox News Media issued a terse press release announcing that "effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with Fox News Media." The network thanked her for more than twelve years of service and offered little else. By Friday, Bartiromo had retained Bryan Freedman, the same media attorney who previously represented Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and Don Lemon, and Freedman fired back publicly, insisting that Bartiromo remains employed by Fox.

The dispute leaves three Fox programs, Mornings with Maria, Sunday Morning Futures, and Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street, in limbo and raises pointed questions about what exactly prompted the network to push out one of its most recognizable on-air voices.

Freedman warns Fox: "We have the receipts"--Freedman's Friday statement did not hold back. He accused outlets reporting Bartiromo's firing of reckless disregard for the truth and made clear that his client intends to fight.

The network's sensitivity around 2020 election coverage is well documented. Fox paid Dominion Voting Systems $787.5 million in 2023 to settle a defamation lawsuit, a case in which Bartiromo's broadcasts figured prominently. That settlement, one of the largest in media history, appears to have shaped Fox's editorial posture on election-related content ever since.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro offered a more specific account. Navarro told Just The News that Bartiromo sent him a screenshot of an internal Fox News executive communication directing staff not to promote Trump's speech or air segments about 2020 election issues. Navarro said he passed the information to the White House, and believes Bartiromo's removal is retaliation for exposing the network's editorial suppression.

Bartiromo remains under contract through 2029, sources say The precise nature of Bartiromo's employment status is the central dispute. Fox's press release used the language of a termination. Freedman insists she remains employed. Just The News reported that Bartiromo has been permanently removed from the airwaves but continues to be paid under a contract that runs through 2029.

An American journalist will spend two years in prison for his role in a scheme orchestrated by a Chinese intelligence officer to steal classified information from the United States government.

Thomas Pauken II was convicted in June 2026 after he admitted to working as an unregistered agent for China from 2019 to 2026. Pauken, who wrote for Chinese state media outlet Xinhua News, worked closely with a person tied to China’s Ministry of State Security.

Pauken faced up to ten years. Prosecutors pushed for three. Judge Leonie Brinkema settled on two, plus three years of supervised release. His defense attorney, Charles Burnham, argued Pauken “wasn’t motivated by money” and simply wanted to improve U.S.-China relations.

A noble amateur diplomat, apparently – one who just happened to pocket six figures and buy two apartments totaling $400,000 in 2023.

Opponents Seek to Block Start of Work on Trump Arch

The Trump administration plans to break ground within two weeks on a 250-foot arch just beyond the gates of Arlington National Cemetery.

Critics say (and there are always critics about everything when it comes to Trump), it would disrupt historic sightlines intended to symbolize the nation’s reconciliation after the Civil War.

Three Vietnam veterans who have filed a federal lawsuit seeking to stop the project asked a judge to block the administration from breaking ground while their case proceeds.

In a U.S. District Court filing on Friday seeking a temporary restraining order, lawyers for the plaintiffs said the administration has "no legal basis for the construction work." They said ⁠the arch violates federal law and needs approval from Congress. [PBS]

Trump Says US Could Strike Iran's Pickaxe Mountain Soon

President Donald Trump said Friday that the United States may strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain facility “very soon.”

He also said new oil pipelines could eventually reduce the importance of the Strait of Hormuz.

Pickaxe Mountain, located near Iran’s heavily damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility, is a heavily fortified site containing two deeply buried tunnel complexes, according to Reuters.

Trump said the United States has extensive intelligence about activity around the site, crediting U.S. space technology and the U.S. Space Force.

“We’re leading in space. We know everybody that’s moving at Pickaxe, we know everybody that’s moving everywhere, all over Iran, and if anything goes bad, we hit them. We hit them hard,” Trump told reporters.
