Immigrant Advocates demonstrate against ICE in Lake Worth Beach

Immigration advocates post signs throughout Lake Worth Beach after recent arrests

Demonstrators posted messages in areas where they say community members were detained by authorities

Immigration advocates in Lake Worth Beach took to the streets Thursday to raise awareness about federal immigration enforcement in their community, posting signs with bold black-and-white messages throughout areas where community members have been detained.

The demonstration began with a prayer at the Guatemalan Maya Center in Lake Worth Beach before volunteers spread out across the city to post their message.

Florida law enforcement officers are deputized by federal authorities to make immigration arrests under what are called 287(g) agreements. State records show more than 3,500 287(g) arrests have taken place in Florida since Aug. 1.

The demonstrators traveled through the city posting signs with messages "FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL KIDNAPPED SOMEONE HERE," or "ICE KIDNAPPED A COMMUNITY MEMBER HERE" in areas where community members (a.k.a. Illegals) were detained.

Why is it wrong for any country to enforce their immigration laws in their country? Mexico enforces their immigration laws why can't the United States enforce their laws if ice is arresting someone that came into this country illegally and is here illegally they should be arrested and deported why do we have to have this double standard of not having Law and Order in our country? Deport all illegals get rid of half of little Guatemala in Lake worth! They probably need to deport half of the Haitians too and anyone else that's illegal in the city, Lake Worth has gone to hell, the illegal immigrants have destroyed the city!

If they're here illegally they're not legitimate community members they came into the country illegally they've committed a crime and they should be deported! I think the law is very clear about this and the United States government has a right to enforce its federal laws about illegal immigration in the United States of America in Lake Worth Florida is in the United States of America!

I understand the legality issue, but let's look at it in another frame. Every day, I ride down Lucerne past the Cultural Plaza, and I see some of the most disgusting human beings on the planet. Are they all legal? I don't know. Has anybody checked? Then on my way back, I drive up 3rd North and go through the alley behind the condo. Has anybody ever done this. This brings you to the lot which I think belongs to the PNC Bank. There are people lying on the ground, in the grass, behind a small hedge, that are strung out on something that I don't really know the name of, but I doubt if it's fentanyl, or they would be dead. And maybe they should be, or probably will be pretty soon. Is there some mathematical equation here that can explain how the one issue is so important, and the other deserves no attention at all. This town has always had a Guatemalan section, right where it is now. What is the urgency to route these people, opposed to letting these drug addicts lay all over the city in plain sight. I don't have any real animosity toward the Guatemalans, but I hate these drug addicts. Put them all in Alligator Alley and see if they have criminal records. What do you want to bet they are wanted somewhere! Well, they are not wanted here!

@11:43...it's always someone elses fault, right?

As Ten Bears said in the film: "There's Iron in your Words Josey Wales" . I agree with much of what you say 11:43, but it's called free will. We were given the gift of "Free Will" and how we choose to use it and the paths that we take are of our own making. No point in looking to the government for guidance on issues that we know they have a personal monetary interest in. Just do what you think is right. The government will have it's own higher power to answer to.

That's a great saying, but Thomas Jefferson's not here anymore, and the government doesn't give a rat's behind about you.

Well, anonymous at 6:43, I believe the government does care, at least half of Congress cares. :)
