Community advocates document what they call 'city-wide raid' in Lake Worth Beach
Community advocates in Lake Worth Beach say a coordinated law enforcement operation earlier this week left families frightened and scrambling — and raised new concerns about how immigration enforcement is unfolding in local neighborhoods.Residents and local organizations tell WPTV they spent hours recording and tracking what they describe as a "city-wide raid," involving several agencies, including Border Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Florida Highway Patrol.
Inside the Guatemalan Maya Center, Christmas presents typically meant to bring joy to local families now sit untouched. Staff say instead of focusing on holiday support, they have shifted to helping families stay together.
"Border Patrol, HSI and other law enforcement agencies… they began detaining people early in the morning — mainly traffic stops… landscaping, construction… we saw it across the city," said Mariana Blanco, the center's director of operations.
Blanco says she and members of the advocacy group P.E.A.C.E. mobilized quickly as videos circulated showing workers running from a construction site and a mix of marked and unmarked law enforcement vehicles in different areas of the city.

The liberal backlash is beyond ignorant. The illegal migrants have been STEALING JOBS from legal America Workers by becoming a "cheaper" labor force, like the Chinese back in the 1800s when the Railroads were being built, and the Irish and other legal immigrant groups could not compete with the Chinese that would work for scraps legal Americans should not work for.....Democrats and leftists in power have been responsible for so many legal workers not getting employed do to the wage disparity, and in Lake Worth we all saw what happened to the Rental market, where even middle class renters could not get a home or apartment to rent, due to so many illegals living 10 and 20 to a house--and now these homes are empty, and suddenly FOR RENT signs are everywhere in Lake Worth, proof of how big this illegal displacement really was. I have ZERO respect for illegals, or for people helping them. This was a crime against America, and taking our jobs and homes is a crime against the American people....
This should have been addressed 30 years ago when it all started, this government turned a blind eye to all this illegal immigrants problems for years, they all need to be deported!
I don't know; what about the Cubans? Marco Rubio is 1st generation, and I think he's doing pretty good. I think he loves the country as well. Do you want to go back to the Italians? They were a despised group back in the day. Germans, Irish, Jews?
Where are your ancestors from? We're all from somewhere else. Even the Native Americans are not really indigenous, if you go back far enough.

It's one thing to appreciate that ICE is doing its job, and quite another to hate everybody. Let's face it. There are people who come here who make many millions doing things Americans not only don't do, but never even thought of doing. People from countries we don't know how to pronounce and never heard of. People from Africa inventing things and speaking our language better than we do. We've had an easy life here. There is nothing worse for you than an easy life. We know we don't measure up to what we should have been. Why take it out on the new people.

@7:14pm...NO one HATES everybody. There are Americans who can do these jobs. No one from Africa speaks our language better than we. Life is not easy...it is hard work to acheive the American Dream. You have to work and accomplish to get ahead, not live off the government welfare dole.
No one is taking it out on "the new people." They are ILLEGALS who broke our law. So the only thing "petty, offensive and in poor taste" is your opinion on Americans enforcing the law who want to have a safe country in which to live and raise their children.
If you’re really talking about safety you would have to send the people who commit the majority of crimes in USA
The per-capita offending rate for African-Americans was roughly eight times higher than that of whites, and Hispanics have been classified as White in the past.
But we are talking about ILLEGALS who are criminals.
