Pope pens surprise letter to US bishops criticizing Trump’s immigration initiatives
In an unexpected letter to US bishops dated Feb. 10, Pope Francis expressed concern over the Trump administration’s deportation initiatives and their impact on vulnerable populations and appeared to criticize Vice President JD Vance’s interpretation of ordo amoris.“I have followed closely the major crisis that is taking place in the United States with the initiation of a program of mass deportations,” the Pope told the bishops in the letter. “The rightly formed conscience cannot fail to make a critical judgment and express its disagreement with any measure that tacitly or explicitly identifies the illegal status of some migrants with criminality.”
According to Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of Arlington, Virginia, all US bishops are in agreement that the country has the right and the responsibility “to promote public order, safety, and security through well-regulated borders and just limits on immigration."
White House Border Czar of the Trump Administration Tom Homan responded to Pope Francis’ criticism, saying that as a lifelong Catholic, he wished the Pope would “concentrate on his work” of fixing the Church.
“He wants to attack us [for] securing our border?” Homan said to reporters outside the White House. “He has a wall around the Vatican, does he not? So he has a wall to protect his people and himself, but we can’t have a wall around the United States?”

All those crossing our border illegally are criminals.

The Pope would be happy with a One World Government, and with the Pope in charge of all the religions in the world...which would ultimately be pared down to just Catholicism. The position of the Pope has always been about Power. The Pope is not a good man...the Pope lives for the power he wields, and for the agendas of his church. I believe in the superiority of Judeo-Christian culture, but this gains no benefit from the Pope. If anything, it is an albatross around our neck.
the pope should not be involved like this.pray for our souls dont tell us how to think.GOD will tell us if we listen
The Pope is a reason why a lot of people don't go to church.
Nonsense, no one is above God. Follow Jesus not a man it’s not that hard if you know what’s up.
Episcopal doesn't believe in a pope. Listen to God, not this man.
So anyone who expresses their opinion who doesn't agree with Trump is "interfering?" Maybe he just has another opinion. That happens sometimes.
I've never seen people express so much animosity and hate towards others who don't hold the same opinion as they do. MAGA often accuses others of attacking Christians but in the last 3 weeks MAGA has really gone after two prominent Christians in a very public way and in a way that some would say is an attempt to silence dissent within the Church.
@8:53.."some would say?" you mean Democrats. As far as the Pope goes, he is a hypocrite. Vatican City disallows illegals entering and if convicted, they are banned for 15 years and could get a prison sentence of one to 5 years.
Right the church has rules all must follow, or will be dealt with. Francis is wrong on this, we need law and order in countries, all have to abide by our laws, he is a hypocrite. I am Catholic and go to church here in this PB Diocese, Matthew their priest won't even look at us, talk to us and we see him at the gym too, won't be bothered and he is supposed to be a Catholic priests, the Catholic Church is broken today. Follow Jesus, not the clergy.
