DOGE Exposes Another D.C. Scandal: The Government Is Using Millions of Credit Cards
The American family knows the importance of watching their credit card statements. Every month, responsible households across the nation carefully review their expenses, looking for unnecessary charges and making tough decisions about their budgets.But while hardworking taxpayers pinch pennies during record inflation, a vast network of unelected bureaucrats has been operating under completely different rules – rules that would make any fiscal conservative’s blood boil.
Earlier this month, a bombshell report from President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) revealed a staggering number that exposes just how deep the swamp really goes: federal agencies are currently juggling more than 4.6 million active government credit cards, resulting in over 90 million transactions totaling approximately $40 billion in fiscal year 2024 alone.
Nearly 4 million transactions, totaling $1.2 billion, went completely unchecked by supervisors in 2024 – a level of financial negligence that would never be tolerated in the private sector. Some $500,000 in transactions were traced to casinos, mobile app stores, bars, nightclubs, and even Super Bowl tickets.
