These sources claim that before pulling the fire alarm, Bowman had ripped down two signs warning that the door he was using was for emergencies only. The sources also provided photos of the scene, showing the damage Bowman had caused to the emergency exit door.

According to these sources, Rep. Bowman calmly approached the door while the House Democrats were holding a vote. He proceeded to rip off the red signs and throw them on the ground before attempting to open the door.
