The group of Texas Democrat lawmakers who fled to Washington, D.C., to avoid voting on legislation that is almost certain to end in the Republican's favor, all boarded a crowded charter jet and snapped a selfie to mark the occasion.

The picture, which shows every person in the group smiling and maskless, quickly went viral and critics pounced. Now many of them have tested positive for COVID-19 and the White House is scrambling to cover up a "super-spreader" disaster.
