Of course, they had no opponents. They are believing the hype that they have a mandate (Greg Rice told them that on Tuesday night) and that everyone, therefore, believes that they are doing a swell job.

Congratulations again to Pam, Andy and Scott. I too think you are doing a "swell" job. When you run with no opposition, you have to wonder why. By comments you read here, you'd certainly think there are dozens of citizens who believe they could do a much better job. They would answer every negative e-mail complaint, ask all citizens to vote on each and every little thing that comes before the commission so that they would know exactly how those they represent want them to vote at that minute, even though the residents might not have the information you may have on the item. They would return calls to every whining complainer who calls dripping with sarcasm, calling them corrupt, liars and worse and then give a written report for bloggers to rip apart and bring up things similar that happened twenty years ago and could happen in the future to bolster their critique of what they just did.

Back to reality... I support your efforts to look to the future for Lake Worth with your 20/20 plan. I appreciate your support for the idea of making Lake Worth a destination by embracing our unique quirky flavor, our artistic and cultural diversity and our God given location in the middle of paradise, to promote things like a hotel district, Park of Commerce and, yes, attracting big economy boosters such as the Spring Training facility in John Prince Park.

I also appreciate your commitment to lower our electric utility costs and improving our customer service and working environment for our Utility Staff.

I appreciate your willingness to look at ALL avenues that could bring our rates into parity with the lowest cost power providers in the state, including re-tooling our system to again produce power or seeing if it could make long term financial sense to sell the utility.

While they still haven't gotten to my street yet, I appreciate your investment in a better method of repairing our pot-holes.

I also appreciate the fact that you listen to and heed the advice of your legal team, even if it seems unpopular to some.

We have a lot of work to do. We have a lot of obstacles to overcome and educating to do. But please know that there are many out here who support you and your efforts and believe you are leading us in the right direction.

It is too bad greg Rice is not doing a good job, his blight of boarded up buildings in our city (1300 block of Lucerne to name some) brings us down and attracts crime, graffiti, and more blight. They have been like this for almost 20 years, the CRA and city code said boarded up buildings are only allowed for one year then they must be either rehabbed or demolished, why does he get away with all this blight of boarded up buildings in our city, because he is rich and famous in cahoots with the elected ones? If these buildings were in College Park, Bryant Park, or South Palmway, they would have the laws enforced no matter if he is a slum owner or not, it is because those properties are in the hood and the entire area is overlooked by our city leaders. rice should be ashamed of himself for forcing his brothers in sisters who live near those properties to have to live next to that blight and crime attractors. I do not think rice really cares, so who cares what he thinks Lynn.

Pam and Andy seem good for our city and seem to care, Scott is another story, he can't even write back or call you, his ego is way too big and his filthy foul mouth is disgusting. His mother needs to wash it out with soap.

Lynn, why cant you and the other blogger prohibit posts by those who will not identify themselves? Some of this stuff is so outrageous to read and honestly doesn't often offer clarity to the issues written about. The non stop attacks on personalities rather than the facts are signs that maybe neither blogger is really interested in being of benefit to the internet world.

Elected officials are fair game, anonymous. It's all spelled out in the comment policy. I would like to see people debate an issue but unfortunately some people in this city would prefer to make everything a personal attack especially to bring down this author. I draw the line when it comes to calling people fat, drunk, old, senile, gay, things like that even if they are a public figure.
To prohibit anonymous posts is impossible as that anonymous person would invent a fictitious name and keep on posting. But you just posted anonymously yourself!

I am the poster at 8:56. I am old, fat, gay and usually drunk. I refuse to admit to my senility. Katie refers to me as a "growth whore" but I wish she would leave my private life out of it. Those who wished to cast pawl on my assessment only attacked me and not why I expressed my support for the current majority. That was just a short list. I am also objective and have no problem with McVoy except he is not a leader. He is a good advocate for all things green but cannot gain consensus with any of his ideas and is rarely at any function important to his constituents. Even the poor and downtrodden. For that reason, he is ineffective and apparently enjoys being a fly in the ointment.

Someone should run against him, even if they are a caver. (Citizens Against Virtually Everything)Maybe someone else could accomplish some of his stated objectives dealing with the environment.

Still, Pam, Andy John and yes, even Scott deserve our support and continue to earn it.

Thanks.

Did Katie call you out by name? Of course not. Your perception of anyone who has a different idea than you do is put in a category of opposing "virtually everything." False assumption. And that's why we have so much divisiveness in this city.

Chris McVoy attends functions when he can. His job takes him out of the area most of the time. He is on the minority side of the vote so he will always come off as "not being a leader." He is also considerate and thoughtful and not a bully. This might be perceived by some as "weakness." It isn't. Why would anyone want to be the fly in the ointment? As I recall, Maxwell was in the same position for a few years and it ticked him off immensely. This dais needs to treat McVoy with respect instead of distain and they don't. He is a far better person.

Ridiculous?

You could be right. I seem to remember how the majority treated Maxwell when he was the "one" in 4 to 1 votes. Very respectful, right?

All the other commissioners work (now) also. They find much more time to attend functions than does McVoy.

I work and attend more functions than McVoy, but that doesn't matter.

He is weak. In the same way Obama is weak. Please list his initiatives. You will came back that "he was on the right side of votes". That's not the same thing as initiating anything.

Like I said, I'd really like to see someone from that side who can work within the framework we have to actually accomplish something for the environment and other green causes. He is just not the one we need up there.

I also agree he is a gentleman and not a bully. But you have also called many other people bullies (as well as many worse things) that didn't fit them either in my opinion.

Good thing we still have "do-gooders" to help with all the heavy lifting. Most every other commissioner and the Mayor have found time to come out and give support to us "do-gooders". We really do appreciate it.

Lynn Anderson said...

Thank God for do-gooders. LW would be in even worse shape without them.

As far as working within the current "framework," that is a real challenge. you guys just voted in a resolution to totally destroy a park environment.

I could go on and on but what the hell.
