Know-nothing answers too common in D.C.
I
watched Friday’s hearing by the House Ways and Means Committee with
members questioning the former, “retiring” IRS director, Steven Miller,
about political targeting of conservative groups. Many groups requesting
501(C)4 (tax-exempt) status seem to have “collectively” been placed
into groups for processing. However the processing in some cases never
happened.
Mr. Miller could not recall names. He could not recall
who knew what and when. I can’t help wondering what this know-nothing’s
salary has been over the years, and what his pension will cost you and
me. When all was said and done, I know as much about this IRS scandal as
I do about Benghazi. Memory lapses in Washington are common. We are
living in a climate of mismanagement, under an administration that
cannot direct a one-car funeral and an IRS basking in the glory of its
power.

AP too obvious in its support of Dems
With its editorial “Indefensible overreach,” The Post made a fleeting effort to appear even-handed in its criticism of the Obama administration, in this case the Department of Justice’s surveillance of the Associated Press. The reference to “conservative” tea party IRS harassment was supposedly balanced by recognition of the press’ moniker as “liberal.” So, to all it should appear that the administration is an equal-opportunity extraconstitutional offender.
I’m afraid the paper has missed the larger issue. The AP dalliances of this administration are no demonstration of non-partisanship. Rather, it’s confirmation of an administration that operates with a “the ends justify the means” mantra. The common thread is the glaring reality that constitutional limitations need not apply to an Obama administration that will do anything to advance an agenda that satisfies the progressive power brokers and the “hope and change” they seek. “Scorn” is an embarrassingly low bar of condemnation.

1) There are no by-the-hour brothels in Lake Worth. Suggesting that vacation renters will bring these to the city is asinine. The overwhelming majority of vacation renters are Canadian snowbirds. Why on earth would I -- or Carol Lewis -- want to rent our precious homes by the hour? That's not good business for us! Please stop being hysterical.
2) There are no laws on the books prohibiting vacation rentals. No one is asking the city to bend or break the rules. We are only asking that the city abide by the rules *on the books currently*.
3) The only one throwing a hissy fit is you. How about asking your neighbor to remove the mattress from their yard -- and using the word 'please'?
4) Finally, my name is Willy Volk. I've connected this account to my Facebook account. I'm proud to stand by my public statements. "Kitkat21": are you proud to stand by your statements? If so, how about stop hiding behind an anonymous screen name? It's people like you that make good people ashamed to call Lake Worth "home."

"There are no by the hour brothels in Lake Worth". WRONG. PBSO busts them frequently. And how would you know if there were any in Lake Worth anyway?!?
"There are no laws on the books prohibiting vacation rentals." Lake Worth has a law on the books which prohibits rentals of LESS THAN 60 DAYS. If you want to call something a "vacation rental" and rent for more than 60 days-go for it.
" I'm throwing a hissy fit" You bet your ass I'm throwing a hissy fit!! And so is every person that I have talked to this issue about!! Our neighborhood associations are up in arms,as well they should be!
The owner of a beautiful bed and breakfast here in town has been asked to rent out his rooms by the hour many times! He happens to have some scruples and has said "no way"! Do I think that you and your friends would be as careful? No way. You all have already shown your complete contempt for the residents like myself and the laws of this city.
Willy ,do you live next door to an ax murderer ? A Prostitute? Would you raise a family with small children next door to a night by night rental? ? Would you ? If bottom feeding carpet baggers like you and Carol Lewis get your way, my neighbors and I just might have to.

Know nothing answers are common here in Lake Worth from our elected officials too, many always say there is nothing they can do. Amoroso, Triolo, and Maxwell are all good at passing the buck and NEVER doing anything about the blight and codes to clean this city up. Their hands are tied they contend, there is no teeth in the laws, years and years go by and properties go uncared for with $25,000 in fines, but no one can do anything, not even collect the fines. I am so sick and tired of these elected folks who do nothing and say they can't do anything, what good are they for then? Why do we want to keep them in. Does Lake Worth deserve to be blighted for ever? They need to disband the CRA, take over this city and DO SOMETHING for the people they represent or step down.
Scheech! Sooner or later those people will sell their mattresses, or those boat owners will build a fence to hide the boat. But Gosh Golly Jim Bean- All the Hissy fitters, relax, take a deep breath...Check blood pressure recently? Is having a stroke or a heart attack worth all this? You'll always have new neighbors! You wont have nothing to say if your six feet under, or in a wheelchair!
