UPDATE:
It was not just about the money!
$285,000 won't even pay for their legal fees. That is what the city commission agreed to pay the Whistleblowers, former employees who did nothing but tell the truth. We can pay $1.6 million to someone who NEVER PERFORMED and what he did do at our pool was INFERIOR, but we can jerk around 3 nice guys.
Back in 2009, Larry Drenski, Howard Jordan and Andres Reyes reported a security breach at our utility. In fact, someone "broke
into the master SCADA computer and downloaded/erased critical data. 'The
Florida public was very definitely at risk', said Reyes and Jordan who pointed
out that federal agencies (for example NERC (North American Electric Reliability
Corp) agree that what happens in Lake Worth has the potential of affecting the
bulk power system in Florida," reported by William Coakley at the time.
Last night the City Commission told us that this WAS the settlement.
The most important thing to Reyes and Jordan was the recognition of their innocence and that the city had wrongfully terminated them so now they could regain their good name and reputation and get hired again in the industry. The record will show a normal resignation. The whistleblowers believe that by the City settling it was an admission by the City that they were wrongfully terminated--that Stanton and Mattey lied.

Pretty pitiful when two CON MEN can fleece the wussies on our Commission for more than a million bucks and these guys are given what amounts to a sick joke as a "settlement". We really need new Commissioners !!!
