Just moments ago, President Obama awarded Staff Sgt. Clinton Romesha the medal of Honor. It was a moving moment for his actions in 2009 when he and his team of 53 American soldiers faced an attack from hundreds of members of the Taliban at their outpost in the mountains of Afghanistan near the Pakistan border.
- While in Afghanistan and a day long attack, he took out an enemy machine gun team
- He and his team were out-numbered 6 to 1.
- He was wounded trying to take out a second enemy machine gun team.
- Even though he was injured, he led a 5 member team into more combat and later retrieved the bodies of fallen comrades
- He is the fourth living person to receive the medal of honor for Iraq and Afghanistan.
