Those who could make it, showed up at the steps of City Hall--part of our "core" group, full of enthusiasm to walk some more to meet the goal.
There's a lot to be said about small town charm especially in our downtown that is vibrant and busy. Why is it? It's a walkable city that is small, airy and friendly. People love that about Lake Worth.
Put on your walking shoes and help petition for voters' rights on building heights. It's your city; it's your downtown. It does not belong to a developer or any one commissioner who wants our city to grow higher. Your right to petition is guaranteed. Your voice can be represented.

I truly believe that our greatest right as Americans is our right to vote. The idea of elected officials, put into office by the power of the vote, turning around and denying their citizens that very right ,is disgusting. The attitude of these same elected officials that the citizens are not smart enough to vote on critical issues, like growth, is insulting to the extreme. Excuse me, but did these elected officials grow another brain when we the people put them in office?Another stupid idea that is always thrown around is "You elected these people to make decisions for you".The HELL I did! These elected officials are there to voice and put into effect the opinion of the VOTERS. They are NOT there to impose THEIR PERSONAL WILL on us, their BOSSES! And ANOTHER pet peeve. If we ever get a new council chamber,we, the audience, need to be looking down on our representatives ,not the other way around.Katie Mcgiveron
How many of the core drove their cars to the big meeting in your walkable city? Did you drive or walk?
Is that the best you have for a negative slam, anonymous at 10:26. Take a major hike. We noticed YOU driving by to check us out on Saturday.

What difference does it make how these folks got there? THEY GOT THERE!!! Where do you stand when the heat is on? I know where they stand - THEY STAND UP AND THEY STAND TALL!!!
It's makes a big difference. If all these core heroes that yap about a "walkable city" then drive 3 blocks to a meeting then 3 blocks to petition, THEY ARE HYPOCRITES and should they really be yapping about a "walkable city"?
The heat is on? What does that even mean?
It means you are one tough piece of work.
