Quote of the Day - City Manager of Lake Worth, Michael Bornstein

Comment Up
"If this can become an effort that brings people together, I think it's awesome. If people want to use it to cause division, then I'm not too keen on it."

~ Michael Bornstein,
speaking on the name change for Lake Worth

Mr. Bornstein, when a commissioner can motion to put a name change of our city on the ballot without ANY public discussion, this causes division. And don't forget what Mayor Pam Triolo said--anyone using the word "divisive" is the one being divisive. Of course we all know what that really means in plain English--if you don't agree with me you are a big pain in the azz and we get what we want so shut the F&*K up. When a commissioner can come out of nowhere and want to change the name of Lake Worth that has been around since 1896, then this causes a lot of contention and hard feelings. And you can bet that this IS divisive.

This Commission should have better things to do.  Hiring an internal auditor would be a good start.

Leave our history alone. Leave the name of our city alone. In November they will find out what the people think of this ridiculous idea in spite of the PR they received today in the PB Post and Mr. Bornstein's comments who is a "company man" all the way.

There would be little expense, "Bornstein said, to change letterhead or business cards. He has an idea for old Lake Worth signs — auction them off."

Really......

What Planet are these people from Lynn? You nailed it when you said it was done w/out public (permission) discussion. There is NO MATH so the cost is ?????. How nice they consider the city and NOT ONE of the businesses or residents COSTS. How about all the Social Programs w/taxpayer 4-color brochures etc.)

Let's rename them - Let them 'feel' what it is like to have someone take such liberties w/our name.
I really like King Maxwell after this stunt.
They are behaving like spoiled kids throwing a fit when you tell them NO or question their behavior.

NYJ = Not Your Job

You are NOT the Boss of ME!

We the People ARE the Boss of YOU (the elected)

NOW ACT LIKE IT!

they should be concentrating on cleaning up the blight in this city. Changing a name will not do that. Fireworks had all people from Mexico or somewhere. Probably illegals. It was disgusting.,\

Leave it alone, Lake Worth is the name... changing the name will not contribute to changes in attitude or piss poor goverment... if we need to change I'm for "GAYWORTH" that name will add value to our fair city and attract the kind of people we want, gays with money and curious straights wanting to live in harmony... guess what it will drive the undocumented aliens out...

if things keep going the way they are going.....
even without a name change, people will be referring to your city as:
lake worthless.

I just don't see this new CM being successful or lasting too long, the city has gone down the tubes since he took over, the streets are dirtier, the city looks uncared for, overgrown, rusty, dirty, just really bad all over, Stanton had started to really improve the look, now it looks bad, plus the new CM is bad about emailing back, calling back, or being responsive to the citizens in the city, this will catch up to him and hurt him long-term. He needs to meet the citizens and get out of the office and see the blight and poor conditions and DO SOMETHING! It will catch up to him and soon otherwise.

Wasn't this part of the of the Intercoastal called Lake Worth? The city borders the Imtercoastal not the beach therefore the name -Lake Worth

Ms. Stanton fired over half the people who actually do the work. But had no problem replacing them with Managers,Directors, and Whole New Departments. You have the nerve to blame the new C.M.You must not get out at all. Mr.Bornstein is every where. You can not go to a meeting with his being there. They even built a raft,The city for the first time in 10 years had a float in the raft race. What more do you WANT.

I am much more interested in where he's going to come up with the $600,000 shortfall in our Budget without robbing the reserves. Rafts? A Float? Will that make our city whole?
