California Must be Dreaming

California Dreaming by the Mamas and the Papas used to be one of my favorite songs. It was about a man in a cold winter landscape longing for the warmth of California. People from all over the world migrated there. It was a time of invention and the entrepreneurial spirit, Silicon Valley and Microsoft. It was always a little bit ahead of the rest of the country in every respect, and people became wealthy. I lived there in 1970 and it was an exciting time. Now it is one kooky, welfare state.

Manufacturing jobs have been out-sourced out of the country. Where California once attracted top engineers and scientists and put people to work manufacturing computers, integrated circuits, etc., jobs have moved off shore. The U.S. government has allowed this to happen to the over-all detriment of our country.

California is $16 billion in debt and growing and now they want to open their arms and take the "non-criminal" illegal immigrants from Arizona. All I can say is, how lucky can Arizona get? First of all, there is no such thing as a non-criminal illegal alien. All Gov. Jerry Brown wants to do is tax all those making over $250,000 a year, raise the state sales tax and spend to get out of the hole. It isn't working Governor! And it won't work for President Obama either.

You really have to wonder if everyone in government is nuts. Perhaps if they changed the name to California Beach, it would get a new image and miraculously things would change over-night. (That's an inside joke!). No one is dreaming of California anymore. What a pity.
