Holiday scenes on the Avenue

Last night the Avenue was packed. I never saw so many people in one spot--families and dogs--all there to enjoy the entertainment and the lighting of the tree. Andy Amoroso and the entire team consisting of the CRA, Downtown Cultural Alliance, the Chamber of Commerce that continues to be political and The City of Lake Worth--they all did one spectacular job.

The Mayor presented the $500 check to Lake Worth Jewelers for the best holiday window display. He and his wife Tanya had walked up and down Lake and Lucerne on Friday in order to choose a winner. If you haven't yet seen their beautiful window, stop by.

Don't forget our holiday parade next Saturday at 6pm.

Holiday on the Avenue 2010

Last night, prior to the lighting of the tree, there was some controversy regarding the date of the tree lighting. Susan Stanton said it was to be last night, and it was (and she should know) but the City web page says the following:

45th Annual City of Lake Worth Holiday Parade
Enjoy the Holiday season with your friends and family and join us to “Light up the Nite” in Lake Worth Saturday, December 11th. Bring your family and friends to downtown Lake Worth for the 45 Annual Holiday Parade and Holiday Winter Workshop presented by the Lake Worth Kiwanis.

Come and enjoy live performances, family fun games, bounce houses, food vendors and a bike raffle! The first 300 kids will receive a free raffle ticket and entered into a bike giveaway! Holiday Winter Workshop begins at 12:00 pm, the Holiday Parade begins at 6:00 pm and the Christmas Tree Lighting at 9:00pm. I wanted to bet everyone--good thing no one took the bet.
