The Gulfstream and Code Violations

Adam Schlesinger has his own form of graffiti in downtown Lake Worth in the form of nine trailers sitting on the Gulfstream property. His disregard of our Code is just another message in a long line of song and dance notes to the City of Lake Worth..."screw you."

On Thursday, July 30 at 9:30, there will be a special Magistrate Meeting at City Hall. The Gulfstream, and Schlesinger’s insult, will be on the Agenda—that of storing 9 trailers on this downtown property. This is a hotel and he is using it as a storage facility, contents unknown. Do we have the right to know what is inside?

If you recall, the last time this item appeared before the special magistrate, the city only asked for a $100 day fine on the containers being stored on the property. $100 for all 9 of them! This fine began on June 29, 10 days after that meeting. $100 a day is a drop in the bucket for Mr. Schlesinger. Now the city administration has taken another look at this egregious spit in your eye on the City and will propose a $100 a day fine on EACH of the containers, or $900 a day.

This is more like it and may get Mr. Schlesinger’s attention. This guy has jerked the city around for years with the complicity of the P&Z Board and the City Commission whose hands were tied. At least now we might have a special magistrate looking at this situation with eyes wide opened and no other interest but doing what’s right for Lake Worth.

By making it super expensive, it will be the Lake Worth Magistrate's message this time that will prevail over the Schlesinger slippery side step. And Mr. Schlesinger, how about opening the hotel?

Those containers have been there for months now. Instead of $3,000 a month, it will be $27,000. That will get his attention for sure. I noticed he still has a security guard there. There must be valuable stuff in them.

He'll get his lawyer into the act. He should save his money. It won't do him a bit of good. I hope that the judge does not compromise with him and goes with the city's recommendation.
