Evening Sky 3-15-20

With Operation Epic Fury burning through resources and no clear end date in sight, senior House Republicans are coalescing around a hard-nosed conclusion: Democrats will not fund this war.

That means Congress may need to fight it alone, through a second budget reconciliation bill that bypasses the Senate filibuster and delivers the military spending America's armed forces actually need.

The discussions are live, the timeline is tight, and the political logic is straightforward. Republicans did it once. Democrats did it twice. Now, with U.S. forces engaged in a shooting war alongside Israel against Iran, the question isn't whether more defense funding is coming. House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington says it's "inevitable."

The question is how to get there before Democrats can block it. [AmericanTribune]

Good Night, Patriots!

Explain to me how House Democrats block the funding when they're in the minority.

@8:13pm...Because in the Senate you need a 60% majority in order to pass a bill

So this post is specifically discussing the Senate vote and not the House vote because, of course, Republicans control Congress, the White House and Supreme Court. And the spending bill actually received bipartisan support in the Senate, it's just that the Republican majority refuses to negotiate with Democrats.

Got it.

@5:44...Actually the Democrats are holding up what most all Americans want...a defense bill that protects our country from Iran and its Death to America mantra.

GET it?

Democrats in the Senate are united opposing these efforts, which are designed to bypass the 60-vote Senate filibuster with the Reconciliation bill

And Senate Republican refuse to negotiate to win over the few Democratic votes that they need. They don't have to invest much time. They only need a handful of Democratic votes. But Republicans refuse to budge an inch. Until they do, we're stuck.

And Senate Democrats refuse to budge an inch and would prefer that America fail. We need 60 votes in the Senate...get your party to do the right thing.
