Resolution No. 20-2023 – Requesting Modifications to the Palm Beach County Cold Weather Shelter Policy
Commission Agenda for June 20 Under New Business BSUMMARY:
This Resolution would establish the City of Lake Worth Beach’s support for science-based protection of residents from the dangers of hypothermia during periods of cold weather. It requests two modifications to existing Palm Beach County policy.
- The first modification would bring the temperature criteria for opening in line with Broward and Miami-Dade Counties and in line with best available science
- The second modification would reduce the risk of hypothermia by requesting 24-hr advance notice of opening to increase the likelihood that at risk individuals can in fact reach the shelters in time.
Those proposed measures are in line with procedures used in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, where shelters open when temperatures dip below 50 degrees.

It is all addiction related, until addiction is addressed homelessness and joblessness etc cannot be solved!
Not everybody has an addiction problem I know people that are sleeping in their cars because they cannot afford the rent I know people that are camping out in a tent because they cannot afford to rent there's nothing to do with addiction it's because these people only make $400 a week $1,600 a month total in your rent is 1400
90% do research it!
There is such a thing as having a roommate. It may not be ideal, but it's better than living in your car.
Most of these things are excuses. The hardcore homeless are mostly addicts, or insane. It is up to society to come to grips with the problem, not make excuses for it.
Bring back the mental institutions for the mentally ill, and treat them inside of the walls, not in the taxpayers park, and on the taxpayers streets.
this all comes back to greed.people can get loans to buy 6-8-10 houses and they control rents.gred greed
