The historic Gulfstream Hotel is one step closer to being brought back to Lake Worth Beach.
Channel 12 News: "During the Lake Worth Beach City Commission meeting last night, the city commissioners voted unanimously in favor of the Gulfstream Hotel project. The original six-story Gulfstream Hotel has been closed for the past 15 years.The original Gulfstream Hotel on Lake Avenue near Bryant Park opened in 1925. The petition gained much support from citizens, with the redevelopment plan gaining more than 4,000 signatures in favor. The proposal features the city of Lake Worth Beach spending $1 million on the project and infrastructure, including water lines, sewer, sidewalks and streets.

June 21 will be an important meeting as it has been published that the proposed financial giveaways to developer Restoration St. Louis and property owner CDS Holdings are estimated to be as high as $10 million or more
How much would it cost to get rid of it?
It is rumored that the city is going to give them 10 years of FREE property taxes just like they gave to the Lucerne. I would love to know exactly what they are giving to them and how many decades it would take to recover taxpayer money.
I don't understand your comment about the Lucerne. The Lucerne is a Condominium Association. The individual unit owners pay taxes. The Association is a non-taxable Corporation.
Just like the Condo you live in.
@9:48.
Taxable value frozen for 10 years for city and county property taxes.
Check it out
The Gulf stream hotel is really a beautiful building very historic too in the City of lake Worth, back in 1997 or so the Holiday inn restored the entire building and open it up as an operational hotel and it stayed open for a few years but it didn't last very long and then they closed the hotel part and then they just had the Gulf stream restaurant for a little while longer and then that all closed too. It's sad I don't know if there's a reason why that hotel can't stay opened and operational but also the city has a lot of issues with a lot of crime, blight, the population that lives there, there are a lot of issues that might cause and be the reason why that hotel wouldn't be able to be successful in the city. Even look at like the real America's voice program that they have American sunrise at 8:00 a.m. on Pluto TV 240 and real America's voice tv they actually do their show a lot from Benny's on the beach and they will never say lake Worth Florida they always say Palm Beach Island so I think lake Worth has a bad rap their name that might be a reason why that hotel might never be really successful anymore because there's just too much crime and blight and too many issues in the City.
Well we like to give away all the properties in lake Worth Beach
If we don't give them away we give them a lot of concessions Benny's on the beach the golf course just to name a few
@6:43--With the CRA involved in the Gulfstream Hotel project, they continue to involve themselves in development, not solving the slum and blight in our city. But, we have a code Department that is short of help and over-worked.
And they say: "Nero Fiddled while Rome burned"
