Lake Worth Playhouse

June 4-20,2021--saw it today--great show!

The main lead of Hedwig, Ryan Michael James, was about a German immigrant living in a trailer in Kansas who was the victim of a botched sex-change operation. He put on a nearly 2 hour performance that will blow your mind! The 2nd lead made her debut at our Playhouse and what a voice!

From the Playbill: Brilliantly innovative, heartbreaking, and wickedly funny, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH is the landmark musical by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask that is “groundbreaking and undoubtedly ahead of its time” (Entertainment Weekly).

This genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing musical sensation, with a pulsing score and electrifying performances, tells the story of one of the most unique characters to ever hit the stage.

Directed by Tony Award® winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) and winner of four 2014 Tony Awards® including Best Musical Revival, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH played to record-breaking sell-out crowds on Broadway and promises to take North America by storm with what Time Magazine proclaims is “the most exciting rock score written for the theatre since, oh, ever!”

Amazing performances by the two leads. Over two hours on stage , difficult for the most seasoned actors AND this is Community Theater. I was grateful to see some of the "social distancing" stuff gone and a larger audience. I am looking forward to "return to normal" at the Lake Worth Playhouse.
