Candidates on Lake Worth name change

Lake Worth or Lake Worth Beach? What do the candidates say?

Omari Hardy: NO on changing name of our city
Cathy Turk: YES on name change

Herman Robinson: YES on name change
Richard Guercio: NO
Tom Copeland: YES
William Joseph: No opinion

There are only two candidates to vote for:  Omari Hardy in District 1 and Richard Guercio in District 4, not only for their stand on the city retaining its name, but for many other issues as well that benefit our health and welfare.

Thanks Lynn, that's all I needed to know.

This is so obviously sponsored by the Real Estate community; I don't know why people can't see that. If you think changing the name of this city is going to increase RE values, when you have neighbors with permanently parked trailers and boats in their driveways, you would be mistaken. Motels on every corner, and changing the name is going to increase the value of your property.

Get in touch with reality!

Changing the name of the city won't change the city. What can be gained by this silliness. Are people so unhappy, that they think changing the name of their city will make them happy. There should be a vote to keep the name of the city permanent. Having to cater to these dissatisfied individuals every few years is tiresome.

The reason for this name change is the Commission's inability and knowledge(or are they just lazy? Can't comprehend postal codes?) to demand that ignorant "reporters" get it right as to where crimes occur.A name change will change nothing but the fact that all of the crime will now happen in Lake Worth Beach. How much is this going to cost? My advice? Stop frosting this pile of crap ,calling it cake ,and inviting us all to eat a piece.

I like the name change idea simply because the word “beach” has a positive connotation for me. Maybe I’m a just a simple victim of successful marketing but I just like saying “Lake Worth beach” better. I live here. If they change the name it doesn’t change anything overnight. We will wake up the next day and everything will be the same, but I still like saying Lake Worth Beach over Lake Worth. I’m not sure how adding beach changes history... the addition of beach simply becomes part of the history of the city. It doesn’t take anything away.

Must be Tom at 11:45. No sense of history. No sense of what is important.
