Thanks to the national obsession with political correctness, a growing number of conservatives report self-censoring to avoid being accused of racism or bigotry.
Personally, I believe the PC crowd in our country is predominately if not exclusively Democrats. What Democrats do do better than anyone is throw insults (some of which are repulsively ugly) and outlandish lies to bring down their enemies (conservatives). I have been personally attacked on this blog on a daily basis which I delete as the name calling doesn't add anything other than to show the hatred from the Left.
Read about the stats from the Cato Institute where you will see the great divide. Democrats and Republicans will never "come together" and Republicans should not allow themselves to be intimated by liberals.

For six years Donald Trump insulted and attacked Obama with outrageous lies and accusations about his country of birth and his citizenship.
You all elected him president so, despite what you say, maybe there's something to it.

Lynn, Please define for your audience, what you mean when you call people liberals. What makes someone, in your opinion, a conservative?
I think that is a good question.
Conservatives: Want the government out of their hair, personal responsibility, capitalism and free markets, traditional American values, God, and abiding by the Constitution of the United States. they believe in law and order and the death penalty for someone convicted of a heinous crime such as murder. They believe in country first, fiscal responsibility and free markets. And what about a strong defense. Limited government is the big thing and your personal freedom and opportunity to achieve the American Dream through hard work and/or education. They believe in right to life. They believe that people should be hired for their ability, not their race.
liberals: Want the government to solve all their problems. Liberals are more socialistic today than ever before. They want free stuff. :)
This is way too important of a topic to delve into right now but these are a few differences. Liberals believe in just the opposite from conservatives. And killing babies in the womb is their right.
Liberals were indoctrinated in college, its gotten worse in the past 20 years. We're seeing the results now.

Forget all the other falsities that you pass on here, this one right here strikes at the heart of what is wrong in America today. Until the people who believe this come to their senses, remove themselves from the bubbles of partisan and fake news, emails and information that they immerse themselves in every day, we will remain divided. The people who do this kind of thing are the problems.
Americans, true Americans, share so much in common and they know it. It's certain people (and the Russians, of course) who keep us apart.

There is a total opposite political philosophy with liberals and conservatives. Change your politics and we might all get along better. :)
I'm a Reagan conservative, Lynn. Always will be. And no, I won't become a Trump "conservative" any time soon. They don't represent the conservative principles that any rational conservative follows. They are a cancer to the ideology that Reagan and William F. Buckley supported and followed.
Today's Trump followers don't know anything about real conservatism and really have no interest in it. They are driven by only one thing: watching and listening to liberals and then doing the exact opposite. Sadly, they have no ideas of their own.

Conservatism is basically the same as Traditionalism. As any parent, or for that matter, any pet owner knows, it is virtually impossible to regain control of your child, once the rules are bent or broken. The nature of living things is to get as much as you can, while giving as little as possible in return. You can debate, argue, and fight over this until the lights in the universe go out, but unless you impose "Martial Law", which would then be a Military Dictatorship, and not Conservative at all, things will just continue to slide to the left, until the Revolution. I can't see any alternative. Most people don't even care. They are just caught up in their own lives, and don't even bother to find our what is going on.

You put it in quotes like it was something I said. Which I didn't. But of course the way you spell the words and the order them does make it totally nonsensical or, as you say, nutty.
Maybe if you read the sentence over and tried to understand it the way it was written it might be a little clearer?
