Last night the mayor asked if anyone had checked the corroded steel pipes before we got into our costly Reverse Osmosis Water system. By asking that question, it indirectly threw the blame for not knowing about this corrosion on a former commission. No one has ever said that the mayor is not a clever politician. Regardless of the RO or going with Palm Beach County, based now on the 20/20 findings conducted by staff, these corroded pipes have to be replaced.
And as a reminder, THE FACTS at that time and how the RO saved us money:
If we had stayed with the Palm Beach County Water Contract (LW a buyer of water)
$25,786,000
$1,500,000 payback to South Florida Water management for a total of
$27,286,000
Reverse Osmosis System (LW a supplier of water)
$23,556,000 (this includes the cost of getting out of the PB County Water deal of $1.2 million)
Savings of--
$3,730,000

Clever? I don't think so. There's only a couple dozen people who have any idea what she says in meetings. Sounds more like low self-esteem and insecurity to me. Her idea of leadership is to justify all of her decisions by blaming them on her predecessors. Very weak leadership skills, if you ask me. She's been in office long enough to have grown into a better leader, but she hasn't. Disappointing.
When will the loss to Lake Worth sale of our Water to Aqua America
and their subsequent sale of our devious, never publicly presented with exact figures,
sale on the open market with 100% profit for Aqua America, Contract which robbed Lake Worth Taxpayers of its' revenue of millions?
Let the City Hall crop put all the cards on the table!Sale of our water would have paid for replacement of those rusty pipers. Water Dept. Manager should have noticed those rusty when he supervised their installation!
