Everyone remembers Pam who has been at our city hall chamber every year regarding Retinoblastoma. She and her husband were just involved in a terrible auto accident.
A note from a friend on Pam Bergsma:
Wally Bergsma and Pam Bergsma of Lake Worth (not graduates but the parents of a son Chris Bergsma who did attend LWHS) both were in an accident in Tallahassee while lobbying the legislature for a bill on Retinoblastoma, an eye disease that killed their grandson Joey. Please look at www.lovejoey.com and read. They have tirelessly, from 2000 on to now, been all over the State making people aware of this dreadful disease.
Thursday while in Tallahassee they were in an accident that totaled their car and both suffered injuries. The air bag knocked Wally's eyeglasses off with such force that his eyes were affected and lost his eye sight. Their son Chris, a Palm Beach County Sheriff deputy was able to go to Tallahassee to bring them back from the Hospital. Wally will be operated on at Bascom Palmer in Miami, February 27th, with hope they will be able to restore his eyesight but they cannot promise. Wally was the Manager of the private Golf Club in Atlantis and has been retired for the last 5 years. Since that time he has gone with his wife Pam to make people aware all over the State about Retinoblastoma and have saved many children from this horrible disease.
Please pray for Wally that his operation will bring back his sight and also for his wife Pam, as she has had bad injuries to her legs.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Bergsma, I am so sorry to hear of this awful accident. Pam, every year the presentation you give in the commission chambers shows your compassion and tireless efforts for the benefit of others. This remarkable way you have chosen to honor your beloved Joey by helping others through early detection of eye disease has generated a tremendous amount of love from hundreds and hundreds of people in Lake Worth and thousands of people nationwide.
May that love help to sustain you and your husband at this time. My prayers and thoughts and those of hundreds of others, will be with you until the time – very soon – we will see you again in the chambers at City Hall! Godspeed both of you back to restored health and the city that loves you! With warmest regards, prayers and blessings. Barbara Jean Weber
