Code Enforcement in Lake Worth

Comment Up
Update: 3:30 I just got a call that the property is now being mowed
Photo taken 11-1-11

Ms. Diaz must be mistaken when she says that this property "has been mowed and is in compliance right now." I had no trouble seeing what is going on here. Why did Ms. Diaz have a problem? It has been reported to me that not only is the property being neglected but that rats and possums have taken up residence there. The Utility was just there and cut down large tree limbs away from the Utility cables.

We had a violation open on this property as a result of a complaint. However, we can only cite what we can actually see, not based on hearsay. I personally went all around the property and all the officer and I could see from any vantage point we tried was the overgrown landscaping.

In the case of possums and other vermin, we are do not handle animal control issues. Perhaps you can speak to the Animal Care & Control Field Operations Manager at (561) 233-1200.

The property was mowed and is in compliance as of right now.

Ms. Diaz is the person who disciplined a code enforcement officer for citing Waterman's illegal sign. She is busy handing out the Kool-Aid too.

There are two properties in the 200 block of North C Street and one in the 200 block of North E street like this too, they are all over grown, the city does nothing about all this uncared for properties. They don't enforce many laws/codes. Look at where Jo-ann Golden loves at 502 North Palmway, she is in violation of codes with all the signs she has all around our city, let's face it, our leaders have a banana republic going on here, Jo-Ann how can we respect you when you do not even respect our laws in this city and you are a commissioner, our own leadership stinks and is not making sure Lynn that these properties are kept up, try e-mailing Jo-Ann, she won't even e-mail you back or acknowledge you, leadership in this city is weak, mediocre let's face it. Jo-Ann what will you do about all of this, that is what I want to know, why would I vote for you again when you disbanned to code enforcement office and do not allow our laws and codes to be enforced, nor do you respect them yourself. Is this fair to all of us here?

Every candidate has signs on private property or in the swale that are illegal...EVERY single one of them. The candidate is ultimately responsible for these signs and should tell each person the rules when they pick up signs.

I like to see political signs but wouldn't have a problem if they could be banned--

Code enforcement is a dept. in this city that should be making money and paying for itself and bringing in cash.

Pick one major issue to focus on each month, more efficient would be to focuse on one street per month but I think people would object as to fairness, advertise the issue on the web site, in the city manager weekly email in the utility mailiing 60 days in advance so people can't complain they didn't know. And get out there and cite people and collect the fines. And be consistent. There is no reason that code has to wait for people to report violations.
