Trump Puts a Big Number on the Midterm Table

Trump Proposes $5,000 Adult Dividend if Republicans Win Control of Congress

President Trump gave the GOP Midterm Convention crowd a promise that is likely to get plenty of attention.

Speaking Wednesday night, he said that if Republicans win both the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, he would issue a $5,000 dividend to every adult citizen in the United States.

That is not exactly a small campaign talking point. It is the kind of number that makes consultants spill their coffee and makes working Americans sit up a little straighter. Trump tied the idea directly to what he described as the country’s strong economic performance, saying the nation is making so much money that he could make this promise.

The Promise Was Tied to a GOP Sweep--Trump’s statement came with a clear condition: Republicans would need to win both chambers of Congress in the midterm election.

In his words, “If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them,” he would issue the dividend. He credited “tremendous economic success” and said the country had never seen anything like it.

The message was simple enough for every voter to understand without needing a think tank translator: give Republicans control, and adult citizens would be promised a $5,000 payout. For a political system that usually specializes in complicated fine print, this was about as subtle as a brass band in a library.

My God, you are so ignorant....

In 1934, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was branded a "Communist" when he urged Congress to pass Social Security. Newspapers, radio commentators and some members of Congress denounced FDR as a dictator and Social Security as a Communist plot to destroy the Constitution.

Even respectable organizations jumped on the bandwagon. The American Medical Association called Social Security a "compulsory socialistic tax" that would lead to totalitarianism and "government control over the lives and fortunes of people."

Medicare was denounced as a sinister government takeover of the nation's health care system. It was attacked as "brazen socialism" on the Senate floor. Ronald Reagan, in a 1961 political ad, and George H. W. Bush in his 1964 campaign for the U.S. Senate, also condemned Medicare as socialism, though they both later defended the program.

@1:48,,,well, it's a waste of time to banter back and forth as to whom is more ignorant. To quote the far left Democrat, FDR from 92 years ago about what socialism is or those who just assumed what was socialistic, is in your words, "ignorant" and not relevant in 2026. It was a new savings concept back then and not really understood.

The only real problem Dumbo is that you want Medicare for all and all people on Medicare even people coming to this country illegally you want Medicare for all and who's going to pay for this? When nobody wants to work anymore because everyone is a communist or Marxist or socialist and they want to just live off the government and not contribute to the government or to the base? That just shows you who the real ignorant person is! Did you ever go to college?

Give me one quote from any Democrat, present or past, that supports your statement that "You all believe social security and Medicare is also socialism.'

Just one. I gave you several Republican statements.

Just one Democrat statement, Lynn. Should be easy.

I'll wait.

Just keep on waiting as I don't answer to you. We don't have Socialists in the Republican Party. Democrat Socialists believe programs like Social Security and Medicare belong to "social democracy"—using government regulations and welfare programs to tame capitalism

But did you ever go to college? You sound so dumb, pie in the sky!
