Canadian Police Investigating Gunfire At US Consulate In Toronto
Canadian authorities are investigating after gunfire struck the U.S. Consulate in Toronto early Tuesday morning, prompting a security response but leaving no injuries reported.Police say the incident occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. when officers responded to reports of gunshots near the downtown consulate building. Investigators later confirmed evidence that a firearm had been discharged toward the facility. No Injuries Reported.
Authorities said no consulate staff or members of the public were injured, and there were no immediate reports of significant damage to the building.
The U.S. State Department and Canadian officials are coordinating on the investigation.
The incident follows several recent cases of gunfire targeting buildings in the Toronto area, including places of worship. Police have not indicated any connection between those incidents and the shooting at the consulate.
The suspect vehicle in the shooting has been found and police on Thursday said that it was stolen.
