The Windy Violent City, Chicago

Chicago Weekend Bloodbath: 54 Shot, 7 Killed

Bodies are piling up on the streets of Chicago over Labor Day weekend – with 54 shot, including seven killed, as President Trump and Illinois Gov. Pritzker spar over sending the National Guard into the Windy City.

At least 32 separate shootings occurred in Chicago between Friday evening and noon on Monday, according to a review of police incident reports by ABC News.

Just hours after Trump posted a message on Truth Social on Saturday criticizing Pritzker’s handling of crime in the city, at least seven people were shot around 11:10 p.m. in Bronzeville. All of the people are expected to be okay.

Trump called the governor “weak and pathetic” for dismissing the need for a National Guard presence in the Windy City in the social media post.

“National Guard troops or any kind of troops on the streets of an American city don’t belong unless there is an insurrection, unless there is truly an emergency – and there is not,” Pritzker said of the situation in Chicago.

He also vowed to sue the Trump administration if troops are indeed deployed.

Johnson said in 2024, “We need 200 more detectives, because we need to solve crime… that’s why on day one, we’re going to move towards promoting and hiring 200 more detectives.” This has not happened and the number of police officers is at or near record lows.

LOL
You're a dupe. Trump loves people like you, Lynn. You're his bread and butter.

As the Trump administration plans to send more federal agents to Chicago and threatens to deploy the National Guard — all in the name of fighting violent crime — a WBEZ analysis has found that a three-month summer span saw the fewest murders in 60 years in Chicago while overall violent crime remained near its lowest point in at least four decades.

Murders in June, July and August totaled 123, the lowest number for those months since 1965, when the Chicago Police Department reported 117 victims, according to city data and historical CPD data obtained by WBEZ using the Illinois open records law. Overall violent crime numbers, meanwhile, have dropped more than two-thirds since peaking in 1991, a WBEZ review of CPD annual reports has found.

@4:38...no credibility quoting a news publication from Chicago--We are not just talking about "summer" murders in Chicago.
Here are the facts on Chicago’s crime problem:

For 13 consecutive years, Chicago has had the most murders of any U.S. city.
For seven consecutive years, Chicago has had the highest murder rate among U.S. cities with more than one million people.
In 2024, Chicago’s murder rate per capita was three times higher than Los Angeles and nearly five times higher than New York City. That’s more than double the murder rate in Islamabad and nearly 15 times more than Delhi.
Out of Chicago’s 147,899 reported crimes since January 1, arrests have been made in just 16.2% of them.
More illegal guns are recovered in Chicago than in New York City and Los Angeles combined.
The number of reported motor vehicle thefts last year was more than double the number in 2021.
Chicago has also come under scrutiny over discrepancies in its homicide data reporting.
AND Trump is not going to Chicago...he is going to Louisiana where he was invited to go.
