Construction paused at Alligator Alcatraz

Obama judge blocks construction at 'Alligator Alcatraz'

A federal judge appointed by former President Barack Obama has paused construction for two weeks at "Alligator Alcatraz" after a challenge from environmentalist groups.

The immigrant detention center, located in the Florida Everglades, was opened in July and quickly became a polarizing symbol of President Donald Trump's mass deportation push.

Environmental and tribal groups want to shut the facility down, saying it will damage the local wetland ecosystem.

The temporary restraining order from U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams bars additional construction for two weeks while she considers whether to issue a preliminary injunction, which has a larger scope.

The Trump administration says this ruling is another example of activists weaponizing the court system to override Trump's electoral mandate.

Environmengalists have apparently never stopped to consider the environmental damage caused by mass immigration, which has become the main driver of U.S. population growth.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who has championed Trump's deportation push, noted the ruling does not stop immigrants from being detained at the tent facility, which currently houses 3,000.

It's weird how many anonymous comments your posts got between 3:56 and 4:06 today...right at the time you were on composing this post.

You can call me anything you want but at least I don't drop multiple anonymous comments on my blog to make it look like people are reading.

You're weird in a lot of different ways, Lynn. At your age, it may be more than that. You should get yourself checked out. Seriously.

Anyone that knows me knows I believe strongly in environmental protections...but in the case of Alligator Alcatraz, I am having a very hard time seeing this as any thing other than a democratic socialist effort to keep illegal migrant criminals in America to one day vote for democratic socialists--and they camouflaging this with the pretense that the detention and removal center is dangerous to the health of the everglades--and I would debate this with ANY environmental scientist....remembering that this is in the context of the entire state and the unnatural state of the everglades--and the balances involved in the health of the state. Again, I am throwing the bullshit flag on this. It is not about the health of the everglades. This is a propaganda-based attack on America.

Couldn't we have done something offshore, like the French did? There must be an island or two that could serve as a temporary holding facility. I have read that Alligator Alley, is quite nicely outfitted. Is all of that expense necessary?

What is the average time period for an illegal immigrant to be processed and sent back to home country. I mean, there used to be a saying about "standing on your head" for whatever period of time, back in the day. Everything is a project these days.

They say Devil's Island is a Tourist destination now. What a perfect match. Detainees and Tourists. Nobody likes either one of them. They could live happily ever after.

It's so odd that they won't eat alligator Alcatraz to be like a five-star hotel all these illegal immigrants have come here and they become so entitled, there was a story on TV last night about these two Mexicans that were here illegally and they were driving a car that was unregistered and was illegal and they were racking up all these tolls on the toll roads here in Florida causing so many problems and they were deported to Alligator Alcatraz and then they were mad because it wasn't like a five-star hotel for them and they thought they were mistreated it's so stupid like it's a prison for deportation they want them out get them out of here as fast as they can if they're here illegally and they're breaking our laws and they're not even here legally anyway they have no rights or due process ship them out get them the hell out of this country and clean this country up of all these illegal immigrants that came in illegally! They're lawbreakers we need lawn order and we're not giving five star service to illegal immigrants at alligator alcatraz!
