FBI agent rehired after taking a stand on FBI overreach under Comey

FBI Rehires Jan. 6 Whistleblower Stephen Friend, Awards Backpay

Other FBI whistleblowers also reach settlements

In 2022, Friend made headlines after he refused to take part in a planned FBI SWAT raid in Florida on a nonviolent January 6 suspect. He stated that the surprise, armed raids being conducted on people who had at most committed misdemeanor trespassing were dangerous, unwarranted, and politically motivated.

He subsequently lost his job.

Since President Trump was elected to a second term, whistleblower advocates have been working to help him and other FBI agents claiming retaliation to get back their jobs or reach suitable settlements.

The turn of events for Friend was announced along with a host of other whistleblower settlements.

Some, like Friend, fought what they saw as FBI overreach involving the January 6 investigations. Three are being reinstated to duty while others who are still employed are being allowed voluntary retirement.

That's good to hear I think they should rehire all the whistleblowers that show the real truth of what was happening in the FBI that previous FBI director wRay was a real snake what a sleazeball just so disgusting it's a breath of fresh air now to have kash Patel in charge he's so much better and he's so honest and more upright thank God we have President Trump we have Pam Bondi and we have kash Patel it's getting there folks little by little praying it keeps getting better! We have to rid ourselves from all these slaves from Satan in government!
