Barack Obama thought his presidential immunity would shield him from any consequences.

But the legal framework isn’t as bulletproof as he hoped.

And Ted Cruz devastated Obama with one legal reality that has the former President’s legal team scrambling. "But where the criminal liability will start is with members of the Obama administration who went under oath before Congress and lied. Flat out lied," Cruz said.

Now we’re talking. Presidential immunity doesn’t cover perjury committed by underlings. Cruz wasn’t done naming names either.

"We know Jim Clapper has lied repeatedly. And that will be the beginning of the investigation. Also, fabricating evidence," Cruz added.

This is brilliant legal strategy when you think about it. You can’t touch the president for official acts, but you can absolutely prosecute his subordinates for lying to Congress about those acts.

Cruz just laid out the prosecution roadmap that has Obama’s former team probably speed-dialing their criminal attorneys.
