Future of Warfare

A Generational Investment in Uncrewed Systems

The House Armed Services Committee has put forth a sweeping $150 billion reconciliation bill that signals a dramatic pivot towards uncrewed systems and the future of warfare.

The proposed legislation marks a historic investment in drone technology, earmarking billions for the expansion of the industrial base and the development of state-of-the-art autonomous capabilities.

Key provisions include $1.1 billion to expand the small uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) industrial base and another $1 billion for “kamikaze” drones. This shift toward creating an “Uncrewed Arsenal of Democracy” is designed to enhance the military’s flexibility and deploy advanced warfighting systems more rapidly.

Despite the clear focus on modernization, the House bill also demonstrates a commitment to maintaining traditional military readiness. The goal is a harmonious integration of old and new technologies to ensure operational effectiveness across all domains.
