Keith James wants to be Mayor of West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach Mayoral Candidate Keith James Launches Action Plan to Address Growing Rise in Homelessness

Mayor Jeri Muoio is stepping down because of term limits. Term limits is something we need in Lake Worth.

And I digress--Term Limits should be on the Lake Worth ballot, not voting to change the name of our city and not selling off a valuable asset as our old Chamber of Commerce building downtown.

Vote NO on both these Lake Worth ballot initiatives.

They need term limits for every political position at every level in the USA, Lake Worth included, but the leeches andy and pam would never go for that, they abuse their power and are maggots on the city and people here.

As far as homelessness, Lake Worth has its own huge problem with homelessness, just go to Bryant Park, filled with homeless and addicts galore. No one does anything about it, no one wants to go to the park anymore as it is filled with homeless, drunks, smoking, and high all over, they destroy the park and bathrooms and cost the city a fortune. The homeless here know how to live off the government too and abuse the system just like the elected leeches here.

can the citizens start a campaign to put term limits on a ballot and how many signatures do we need

Yes. The residents can do a referendum and get Term limits on the ballot if they get the required amount of voters to sign it. It's been a long time since I was involved in a referendum and it is 15% of the registered voters in Lake Worth at the time of the last election. You are looking at around 1,700 signatures or so. It has to be worded correctly and limited to 75 words as I recall and to be on the safe side, should be drawn up by an attorney.

Thanks Lynn, sounds like something Lake Worth and this whole country needs to do with ALL elected officials around the country. We must stop these leeches!

The city clerk's office told me it is 15% but I believe it is only 10%. Just had a call from someone who has done referendums and he confirmed 10% unless we are trying to over-turn an Ordinance in effect and it would be 15%.

Florida Statutes (I believe it's 36.215) authorizes citizens of a municipality to place a referendum on the ballot by getting 10% of the registered voters to sign a petition to place an issue before the voters at the next scheduled election.
