For those who just love to take digs at our former city manager, Susan Stanton and actually think they know how to run cities better than she --
"Greenfield crime statistics report an overall upward trend in crime
based on data from 12 years with violent crime increasing and property
crime increasing. Based on this trend, the crime rate in Greenfield for
2013 is expected to be higher than in 2010.
The city violent crime rate for Greenfield in 2010 was higher than the national violent crime rate average by 64.89% and the city property crime rate in Greenfield was lower than the national property crime rate average by 25.17%.
In 2010 the city violent crime rate in Greenfield was higher than the violent crime rate in California by 51.06% and the city property crime rate in Greenfield was lower than the property crime rate in California by 16.48%."
It seems that Ms. Stanton assessed the situation and suggested that Greenfield, California have its own police chief. With the escalation in crime, we can understand why she wants someone devoting all of his energies to Greenfield rather than splitting his attention between two cities. But some people still like to gripe and look for the negative rather than the positive and still get their jollies off knocking Stanton.

Cut Wes some slack. He has to talk about something. How else is he going to get any readership, all 5 of the people who read his blog.
If Wes hadn't posted it, you wouldn't have had to come to your damsel in distress.
If you look at it from a different point of view, you could say that Stanton is a control freak.
Splitting the Chief was a cost cutting measure. Remember how Stanton ran up our top eschelon salaries while laying off 70 people?
The agreement was TWO WEEKS OLD!!!
Sometimes you have to be a "control freak" especially when you have people who have no clue. Even when you think someones knows his job, it turns out they do something really stupid. It seems that Stanton suggested for Greenfield to have its own police chief and the political vote went against her. I would say that she probably knows better than politicians...just my opinion. We don't know the circumstances involved. Here in LW we spend a bloody fortune on public safety and crime still is horrendous but the cry is PBSO at any cost.
There are certain sickos in this city who are obsessed with Susan Stanton, Suzanne Mulvehill or anyone who has ever spoken out with a different view. They are truly sick and need to be kicked to the curb. Regarding PBSO that Wes and Lindsey are so hung up on, PBSO costs us too much money, money that we can not afford. Ask them about that the next time they go on and on about the Sheriff. What is the obsession with Stanton? She is no longer here. This commission made sure of that. So why continue to bring her down, Wes? What is your problem? Do you just enjoy kicking people when they are down? Are you that big of a damn bully? God, you need to get a life.
All good managers are control freaks. She would have done great things here. We lost a year of progress when she was fired. This commission settles for less.
